And the week begins

I started the morning off by meeting the mail carrier at the door with my new Scrapmuse kit... and Ohhhh La la... it's a good one, for sure. They always are.. but this one is looking very fun... lots of new interesting goodies to try out.

After that Deb called and said she was making a run to Michael's , and wanted to know if I wanted to go? um.... yep!
I have a little altered project on my mind... so these are the pretties I picked out for it.

I also snagged a little bit of the new Martha Stewart stuff.
It was a quick trip, but we did take time for lunch at the China Buffet.. and it was yummy.
It was SO warm her today... almost hot. I am loving having the windows open so much, there is no way I'm thinking about turning on the air conditioning for some time. The windows have been closed all winter, and I'm enjoying the fresh air. Fans yes.. air con... no!
Below is a layout I did with Fancy Pants Papers of Wes coming home a couple of weekends ago. It not any spectacular pictures... but it's so "him", I had to scrap it. The journaling reads:
This photo wouldn't look like anything special to most people, but I love it, because it totally captures "you". Always, most comfortable with your guitar slung over your shoulder. Whether your coming home from the weekend, on your way to band practice, or off to perform, you are rarely without your guitar. This isn't something new... It's been this way since you first found your passion for music, years ago. Junior High, High School, the College years and now, still your always toting your guitar. Music is just a part of you... It's your Gig!

And just because I'm sure you all want to see my toity... lol , the paint is dry and the basics are back in. This is the upstairs restroom , we all most commonly use, to shower and get ready each day, so I want to keep it simple. Clutterless! The older I get , the more I like clean and simple . ( I still have my girly , foofy one .. so no worries) lol.

It's hard to tell the color well here, but it's called Safari.
The photos in the hanging frames are some that I took when we were in Bellingham WA. The colors in the photos match really well with the colors in the bathroom. And besides that ... it was just such a beautiful place... I love looking at them when I'm curling my hair. ( see, I told you .. I'm easy to please) lol
I hope you all had a great first day of the week!

aahhhh perfect weather

What a beautiful day! Absolutely gorgeous! I was outside all day, working in the yard, trimming planting , washing windows, and even gave both pups a bath. (that's an ordeal! Molly does not like baths)... but her reward was playing frissbe.. and THAT made her happy!

Dan finished painting the bathroom this afternoon , and I really like the color. I'll share a pic once everything is back up. Feels good to get some of those projects done.

And did I mention... I LOVE having the windows open!!!

A sunny Saturday!

Oh, it was so nice to have a beautiful sunny day today... to be outside a bit. I messed around outside most of the afternoon, sweeping off the deck and washing it off, cleaned up the birdbath, and filled it.. that sort of thing. I really wasn't in the house much until this evening when I came up to my room and worked on this canvas with Crafty Secrets Papers and Alphabet stamps. I have to thank my friend Patti for the darling photo.

This little note came in the mail today and it was so sweet, I just have to share it with you. My friend Cat's son was selling his Easter chocolates , and was going to give the money to this animal shelter near where they live. Cat had written about it on her blog...and it just touched me. For two reasons, because I'm an animal lover and the other because it was just so selfless that this little guy would take on such a worthy cause. (and to sell his chocolate!!) ... I'm not even sure I could do that. lol I stuck $5 in a envi ,and sent it to Ian to put with his Chocolate money.
This note reminds me of my friend Debs pup , Cully.

I smile every time I look at this sweet note. Cat... you are raising a fine young man.

This is the other thing I did today. Hanging my sheets on the clothes line , is one of my favorite things. I LOVE how they smell, when I crawl into bed at night.
It's a good thing, we all have those, "little things" that make us happy, huh? lol
Hope you're having a wonderful weekend!

And the winner is....

When Jarad came home from work this morning , I had him draw a name from me , and the winner is................
Today, I can post a photo of what I've been working on for AccuCut for the National Stationary Show. 6 (count em.. 6!)lol Topiaries. There are ALOT of little flowers on those babies... I tell you that much. AccuCut it so smart , they now have this new die... that is long, with multiples of the same flower on . That in combination with being able to cut multiple pieces of paper with each cut... REALLY speeds things up. With these new dies, making something like this for centerpieces for tables at a reception, ect.. would be SO "do-able". The flowers are just layered and attached with straight pins with pearl heads. I did sprinkle them with a fine iridescent glitter using a spray adhesive. Purple is the AccuCut logo color.
The dies I used were itty bitty flowers #3 Z1B070 and Flowers #18 F1449LC.
"They" are going to be putting glass marbles in the pots, that's why they are empty in the photo.

Went to lunch here in my small town ,with my friend Deb. Although we had a freeze that was hard on the trees, things are starting to recover.
We stopped at my favorite junk store, which I was sad to her from the owner... will be closing soon. I always find some fun goodies there, at a fantastic price. Here are today's finds.

Wes, just stopped at home, on his way to Omaha, so I'm going to go visit with my boy. His band is playing tonight there, so I know he wont be here long. I'll take what time I can get.
Tonight is the "2 Jills" chat at 6pm central... come on by , if you can!
Have a super weekend!

Busy day!

Oh, I have lots I want post today.. and none of it really goes together.. so bare with me, okay? lol

First of all remember that I'm drawing for the Page Frame Giveaway tomorrow, so if you want to put your name in , you still have time!! I'll post the winner tomorrow.

First I wanted to thank Dale Anne (My Creative Ramblings) for tagging me today. I guess I'm suppose to tell you 7 unknown facts about me? hmmmm...
here goes... ( unknown by some, not all , I'm sure)lol

1) LOVE diet Mt Dew
2) animal lover
3) major dislike of snakes! (scary!)
4) My favorite band in high school was ... KISS (I'm serious) I also like Ted Nugent alot. Actually I still do at times, but I like all different kinds of music, Rock, country, about anything... but I like it LOUD,when I'm in the car by myself. My motto.... "If it's too loud, your too old" lol (that is a quote from Ted himself!)
5) I stay up late (too late)
6)I love clean sheets on my bed.. to the point It ridiculous! lol
7) I worked for 10 years as a para educator in Early Childhood Special Ed.
I tried to tell you... I'm just not that exciting! lol

I have tagged so many people lately, this time , I'm just going to list some blogs, that I think are very inspiring.
A bit East
Velvet Strawberries
melnunn
Pretty Petals Boutique

I was so excited today to get to see what Karla (Karlas Cottage) made with the RAK she won here! Very Cool!

I know I've talked about these(Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist) on my blog before, but today my friend Sandy from Crafty Secrets, sent me a few more colors of Glimmer Mist, to try and , talk about Gorgeous!
I used the new Crafty Secrets Clear Art Stamps and just stamped the images in black on the different tags after trying each other, and they were just so pretty. I took them outside to take photos , hoping you would be able to see how they SHIMMER.. but photos just don't do them justice. Maybe if you click on the photos so they are larger you can see it better. I am so sold on these!

I tried a couple of things... like on this one, I laid a large silk flower down and used it like a stencil, and sprayed over it. The fun thing is , the flowers turned out gorgeous also. lol

Every color I tried was just beautiful , even on these simple manilla tags.

Okay... I wanted to share a couple photos of last night with the girls! What a fun time! I love getting together with these girls! We laughed so hard, I supprised we didnt get kicked out. lol

Ruth Rector , Me, Becky Novacek, Jan Jenkins(my sissy), Deb Steenblock and Sherri Strong.

Super fun time with fantastic food!

Ok.... now that I've jumped all over the place with this post...... are you totally overwhelmed?
One more thing .... Friday at 6 is my chat at 2 JILLS, so come on over if you can... those girls are a blast!

Peaches and Cream???

I just had to laugh yesterday , when I got an email from my cousin Becky, who is so sweet to read this silly blog faithfully. She commented about my crafting, cooking ect... And I started thinking about how sometimes blogs can look so "Peaches and Cream" . If you know what I mean.
I always feel like there is enough "icky" stuff out there in the world , on the news, ect... to bring you down, so I don't usually go there. I like to keep it light, for the most part and share fun stuff,... the stuff that makes me happy... my family and friends, art, nature, photography, recipes, my silly pups,.. that sort of stuff. Just because I usually only post "pretty" pictures, doesn't mean , I don't have a pile of laundry or that my dogs don't have dog toys strung from on end of the house to the other. lol We all deal with everyday life, car problems, bills, kid stuff, ect I just think most bloggers feel the same as I do, they want to share their "fun stuff", their "Creativity"... not their dirty dishes, and "who didn't take out the trash this morning?" stories. lol Sometimes there are nights like tonight that when they say "What's for dinner"? , I say, "grab a bowl of cereal"! lol

And the reason I would say that? Well, because I'm meeting the girlies at "Thornhills" for dinner! lol Becky, Sherri , Deb , Jan, Ruth and I are meeting for dinner and chat tonight, and I'm SO looking forward to it.
I LOVE May day, and it seems it's fading away. You just don't hear that much about it anymore.
I just think it's such a fun tradition. I made these for the girls for May Day. (a bit early) but since I probably wont see them on May Day, they'll get them now.
They are made with an AccuCut die CN200J Cone-Jumbo
Sorry that top photo , isn't to clear, but if you click on either of the next two, you can see them larger and much clearer.

They were easy and fun to make!

This is a little something I made for my mom for Mothers Day. My mom still loves to write letter and a Correspond to faraway family and friends of here's, who don't email. ( my 85 year old mama, is a hip chick...she emails also) lol So anyway, I made her this.

On the inside is a set of stamped cards and envelopes , a pretty pen, a roll of stamps ( and room for her to keep her address labels.

She doesn't really need anymore nick knack things, but this it something I think she may really use. I can refill the note cards and envelopes as she needs them.

The little wooden purse is from Judy's Stone House Designs.
Well, time to hit the shower and head out. Looking forward to seeing the girls.
Don't forget to put your name in for the Page Frame giveaway on Friday, if you havent yet!
Have a happy night! (forget the laundry.. it'll wait!) lol

$1.99 worth of fun

I posted this "house shelf" thing.. I found at the Goodwill a while back, so I thought I would show you the finish project. I wasn't really sure what I was going to do with it when I bought it, but it was cute and was $1.99, so How could I resist? lol

I love when I'm doing something, just for fun, no real reason... because then I know I have total creative freedom to do and use , whatever I want, with no major expectations.

I just pulled out bits and pieces of some of my very favorite papers, and started altering. I used the edge of my 12x12 scallop die, from Accucut to cut the pieces for the roof. I LOVE the scalloped die. If your interested in asking you Local Scrapbook store to carry it, it's SQ704G
Square-Scalloped 11 1/2".

Oh how I love pink... and green... and sheet music! I get on a kick with something , and I just cant let go. lol
I haven't decided what exactly I'm putting on the shelves yet, but maybe,my clear containers of beads. I like to have things out where I can see them. I am hanging it in my work room , and trust me , there wont be any problem finding something to put on the shelves in here. lol

Lots going on this week. My Aunt and Uncle from SD will be at my moms, so I'm excited to see them. I'm meeting the girls for dinner tomorrow night! Yay! FRIDAY the 27th is my chat at 2 Jills... and I know that will be a great time.
My niece Neely will be back in the states by tomorrow. Her and the band have been on another European Tour. Tilly and the Wall
Can't wait to see her, when she gets back. We dont get to see Ryan(my nephew) as often now that he's living in Denver, but Wes(our son) and a couple of his friends drove there over the weekend to take in a concert with Ryan and his room mate. It was a quick trip, but they had a great time. Ryan is so good about taking time to show them around the town.
That's wraping up the family and creative news, all in one! lol
Don't for get to put your name in for the Page Frame Giveaway! I'm drawing on Friday! They are so fun!!! I hope you win!!!! lol
It's a good sleep night... perfect rain... cloudy, alittle bit of thunder and lightening...zzzzzzzz

Some time in the Kitchen

One thing about spring and summer that I love ... it the fact that the fresh produce. I love fresh fruit and veggies. Since I can share the project I'm working on yet, I thought to do would be a good day to share these yummy beans Diana made on Easter... that have been on my mine... calling my name , ever since then! I finally made them... they are SO easy and So good!

Yummy Beans
2 lbs fresh green beans
(wash and snip, drop into boiling water for 7 min. pour into strainer and run cold water over them)

1/2 Italian dressing (I used this light golden Ceasar because I love it)

1/4 Feta cheese
1/4 cup chopped fresh dill
1/4 cup finally chopped red onion
Can't ask for easier than that, right?

I actually love to cook, but I just don't seem to cook like I used to. The boys aren't around, so It's easy for us to just grab something quick.. or cook one night ,and have left overs the next.
I'm getting lazy! lol
I'm chatting over at 2 Jills this week... and Fancy Pants is the hot topic , so I decided to post a photo of my kitchen valance, done with Fancy Pants Papers to show you. The problem is , I just couldn't get a good shot of it while it was up in the window, with the light directly behind it, so I had to take it down. The light was much better outside. You get the idea.
Just goes to prove... paper crafters, will do just about anything with paper! lol
Everytime I turned around when I was in the kitchen today, I saw this "closed" sign..and thought to myself... yup... that pretty much sums up how much time , I spend in the kitchen these days. lol
Things will change, now that it's nice enough to fire up the grill.
Dont forget to put your name in for the Page Frame give away. I'll draw a name on Friday!

Page Frame give away this week!

I told you I was going to have a Page Frame give away soon! lol This is the week! All you have to do is let me know you would like to be in on the drawing either by posting a comment here, or by emailing me at vickichrisman@hotmail.com
Be sure to leave your email,( so I can contact you if you win), or check back on Friday, okay?

Thanks to Tara and Kim from Page Frames, for helping out with this give away! If you've never used a Page Frame You need to check out the Page Frame Gallery, and see just what can be done with them.
Page Frames come in a lots of different shapes and sizes, so they are fun for scrappers, stampers, or altered artists.. anyone.
The one I'm giving away this week, is a 8x8 size frame.
The frame below is an 8x8 frame that I altered using Crafty Secrets Heartwarming Vintage Papers and Fairy Stickers. The darling little girl in the photo is Joslyn, my friend Patti's Little girl.

The scallop and flowers are both AccuCut dies. The Scallop is from the 12x12 scallop die and the flower is (Itty -Bitty-Flowers #3) Z1B070. I was in heaven with the stitching and inking on this one. (Ink and I have a special bond... and it's hard to break!)lol
The altered project below is something I did with the new "Bird Cotton images" from Crafty Secrets Heartwarming Vintage. The images are so beautiful, I cant wait to share them all with you. I have more projects in the works. I LOVE these bird images! This one is one of my favorites in the stamps.(I think it was for a lot of people, so now it's on the image sheet also.)

Here's a close up. Lots of inking and stitching again, and a combo of fabric and paper. Vintage lace and buttons and some "found treasures" from the yard. lol

Hope everyone had a great weekend, and is refreshed and ready for the week. I have some fun stuff coming up this week, I'll tell you more about later. Here comes Monday... hit it head on!

Something special

Today, Cate.. over at Scrapmuse posted this message and link, and it touched me so much , I just had to share it with all of you. Earlier this week , I posted a layout I did of my sweet little nephew Austin. He is one amazing kid. I love him so much.
In someway each of us has probably been effected by Autisum, whether, it's a family member , a friend , nieghbor, ect... The statistics are phenominal.
Please take time to watch the video ...it's well worth the time!

Here is Cate's post

Autism Speaks created a music video of the Five for Fighting song, "World", which features images of autistic children and their families.

It is a truly moving video and was the work of Bill Shea.

The band is generously donating $0.49 to Autism Speaks for each time the video is viewed

- the funding goes toward research studies to help find a cure.

When you have a moment, please visit the link below to watch the video and pass it along to your friends and family.

They are aiming for 10,000 hits, but hopefully we can help them to surpass this goal. http://www.whatkindofworlddoyouwant.com/videos/view/id/213154

from begining to end

I titled this post, "'From beginning to end" for a reason. Do you ever have one of those days that nothing will just come easy? Well, I had one of them today. It started when I went to let the dogs out first thing this morning ... and had to see a unpleasant encounter. I will spare you the details and just tell you , it had to do with Molly( our dog), and baby bunnies. (yes... I'm traumatized and will probably need counseling) nuff said about that. I wanted to get things done so I could head into Omaha to pick up supplies for a big project I'm working on.
Trying not to dwell on the unpleasantries of the the morning , I started hitting the craft stores. From one store to another, looking and looking. I can't find just what I need... FINALLY... at last I find the PERFECT thing! They have 5 , and I need 6! I get them to call the other store and see if they have any...because at this point I'm willing to drive clear across town to get it. (price $1.49) NOPE... DISCONTINUED! grrr... back to square one.
Getting the idea about how the day is going to go? lol
Picked up my photos at Sam's club and they're blurry and grainy.
It's so nice out, ..I think , I'll roll down my window... NOPE.. wont go down. WHAT?
The fun part about going into Omaha and picking up supplies for projects.. is I always find one or two really good deals or something fun for me... NOTHING today.
Fun places to have lunch in Omaha... NOPE... still feeling a bit icky about the incident first thing this morning. (I'll pass)
Anyway, I finally get all my running done .... whew!...tired and ready to go home. (this is 8pm now). I should stop for groceries when I go through Fremont ... so I don't have to go back in tomorrow. It's only 17miles ,but if I could convince myself to just do it tonight , I wouldn't have to go in tomorrow for anything. But I'm SO TIRED!.... The deciding factor came , when I realized I was out of Diet Mt Dew at home. Yep... gotta go!
I get off the by pass and head for Fremont... Go to HyVee grab some things I need and hit the pop isle. Yay, good news , Coke products are on sale this week. I start scanning the shelves and I see only an empty space where my Diet Dew should be! WHAT???? How can this be happening? I see a stock boy and ask him to check. He comes back.."Sorry .. the truck will be here in morning."
Anyone who knows me, knows My Diet Dew is High priority! BUMMER!
After checking out and getting my groceries out to the car... I start heading for home.
As I'm driving , I'm running through my head, all the crappy things that happened to me today, but there was a great song on the radio, I could smell the fresh air (coming through my tiny wing window...cause that's all that will open) lol, but it felt so good. I thought to myself.. it's all little stuff... just little stuff! My kids are healthy, all the big stuff, is okay. I needed to change my perspective on the day! Ok, I'm thinking positive now........... EEEEEKKKK.... as I slam on the breaks about 1 minute from home when a dear runs in front of me. ( REALLY close call) , Groceries rolling all over, in the back. lol Oh brother!
No, really, with all that went on this week in the news, I really needed to give some thought to my bad attitude about the day. It really wasn't that bad at all... kinda funny actually ... now.
The icing on the cake was this... I got home and just needed to bring in all the groceries and put them away... surely I have enough energy left for that?
I was carrying all these bags of groceries in ( I always try to carry more than I should) and dropped two plasic bags. Stuff fell everywhere. I thought I got it all picked up...untill I came up here , sat down at my computer to blog..., I look down at Aly and....

Time for bed. Well, in keeping with my new "more positive" take on things. The day did end ,better than it started!
Have a super weekend! I'm going to be working on ...seeing my glass half full, not half empty! lol Think Positive! lol
