And it's the weekend again

How the heck did that week go by so fast? Wow! I guess because it was a busy one, it seemed to just fly! I didn't even really get to do much of a random nice thing! I did so some things....but they weren't really anything random and clever. (didn't have time to put on my "Creative good deed thinking cap" I guess.
I did do one little thing... I needed to drop of some things at my friend Bec's today,so I went through Sonic and brought her a diet cherry lime aid. If she enjoyed it half as much as I enjoy them... It was a good deed. (trust me) lol
It wasn't random, but I made 4 pans of brownies and a double batch of pasta salad this morning. Some to take for a funeral and some to take to Neely's tomorrow.
Poor Neely has to move again. The house sold so she had to look for another place. I know she was sad ,because she really loved that place, and it was perfect for her. I know , in no time , she will have the new place all set up , just as cute and homey as can be!

Today I got something fun in the mail! Lookie here!

Thank you to Wendy at Tattered Angles for these new colors to try. I cant wait to have a minute to try out the gorgeous colors! I need some time to just play!
I about had a panic attach when I pulled in today and saw this sitting out front. Wes is moving to a different place this week, since his roommate is leaving to do his internship in Australia.
At first , I thought he was bringing a bunch of stuff home to store..(ummm...excuse me ..but we don't have room!). Geeezzz... I'm trying to purge and get rid of stuff, NOT get more of it!
I forgot he is playing at his friends Jamie and Megan's Wedding this weekend , so this is all the sound stuff. WHEW!
I better get myself to bed at a decent time tonight ,so I'm bright eyed and bushy tailed for moving day tomorrow! Have a super weekend!

GlimmerMist and stencils

I don't know why I didn't think of this ... it makes total sense! Glimmer Mist and Stencils. I had used the basic idea when I used the paper doilies as a stencil, but I didn't think about using actual stencils
If you want to see some tips on how to do it , check out "Craft TV" this week.
I had to give it a whirl...so here's some quick samples .
I had found these ugly faded pink plastic doilies at our local junk/treasure shop, so I used them first. I really liked the effect. I dug into some old stencils for some of the others.
TATTERED ANGELS
For the butterfly, I stamped the wings on two separt pieces of paper that I had sprayed (one pink and one blue), when they were dry , I stamped the wings and cut them out.
I used a stencil for the green, and lightly misted the tag with pink. After is was dry I outlined the stencil with a back writer, and made the "quilt look" with my tracing wheel.

No matter how I photograph it,...you just cant see the effect of the glimmer mist like you can in real life. darn. It' s very "shimmery"
I went over the wings on some of these images with my SAKURA stardust pen.

I inked the edges with "Chestnut Roan" Colorbox ink

The next two tags were done , using the dollie.
This tag and the bottom tag are both done using the new "Fairy" stamps from "Crafty Secrets Heartwarming Vintage" I LOVE this set!
This little cutie is from the "Cherub" set
I just found out that Tattered Angels, the makers of Glimmer mist, now has a forum and a gallery. They also make a number of other products, I wasnt even aware of. If you want to check it out , "Tattered Angels " Gallery Forum

I'm busy working on prodjects that I can't share just yet, so I did these tags quick , so that I'd have somthing I could share today.) You know .. I need pictures! )lol The mist is so easy to use and really quick drying, so these came together fast.
This week is flying buy.. and I havent even done my "Random Act of Kindness" I talked about Monday. HERE I have to get on that tomorrow! Have you done yours yet? (nudge nudge) lol
If you did, ...right and tell me about it...maybe it will give me some ideas??

What makes you happy?

After looking at some of the photos I snapped over the weekend, it really got me thinking about how we each have certain things that we choose to do , that make "us" happy. "Our enjoyment, hobby or way to relax.
I have to snap photos of my boys when they arent aware I have my camera in hand, these days. (I think I've burnt them out with the photo thing) lol
I did end up telling Wes I had snapped a few through the window. (sneeky huh)
I just love candid shots like these. Wes has one thing that makes him happy , more than anything.. and that is to "Play Guitar and Sing" any chance he gets. (and to play with the dogs) lol
When Wes came back from Omaha Saturday, I watched him come in the house and grab his guitar... and out the door he went with the dogs trailing behind him.

He just walked around the yard , singing and playing for the longest time. We live in the country , so I think he probably only got weird looks from a farmer or two , going by on their equipment. lol
It is truly his way to relax. I could always tell when he was stressed about something ..when he lived at home, because he'd go off to his room to play guitar. Everyone need to find their "release" , ...this is his.
It was so cute... Molly just followed him all over the yard. Where ever he went ...she went. She would sit and listen, like he was playing for her or somthing. lol

Jarad... well, Cars, trucks, motorcycles, 4 wheelers...anything with an engine, is his pleasure. Working on them , is his favorite thing to do , and his way to relax. (this does NOT cause "me" to relax!!) For a couple of reasons.. One ..because I'm always worried about them getting hurt on the stupid things, and the other because it causes my garage to be a huge MESS! grrr...
I will say, he can fix about anything!

Jarad is the one in the white shirt and long pants.

What makes me happy and what do I like to do to relax you ask? hmmm... I love working in my studio , making something for NO reason. All my own..no rules. I love chill'n with my pups!
and I love driving in the car by myself with a good CD playing. ( I have to be by myself...because I sing..and trust me, nobody want to hear that!) lol
What makes you happy?? Or what do you do to relax?

Dress Form

I tore into my $3 dress from from the sale table at Hobby Lobby today. I used Crafty Secrets Heartwarming Vintage papers & stamps, and AccuCut dies.

The papers I used were from the "Earthy" paper pad. I love the warm colors so they just set the tone , and I went from there. She started kind of prim and proper but went "funky"on me. lol
I found this little photo frame charm that I've had forever. I stamped the design I wanted using some of the smaller design stamps from the "Clear ART stamps", Cherub set. I love taking those stamps and repeating the image to make another design, to fit my needs for the particular project I'm working on. After I added the stamped image, I filled it in with Diamond Glaze.
Then I stamped the wings (from the same set), cut them out, went over the wings with my Sakura stardust pen, then brushed on diamond glaze. I added them to the back of the frame charm.

I used the AccuCut Fring die for her skirt and them used one side of my 12x12 scallop die to cut the edge of the fring to a scallop. ( I used that die SO MUCH!) I love it!

I added lots of gems to the flower centers the neckline and larger ones on the arms.
I used tule for the top and wrapped it thought the charm in the back. ( I had stamped an image in that also and filled it with diamond glaze.

This is the bottom. I used a watch face to put on another chain around her neck ,that hangs accross her shoulder and down to her right side. I used the "Bingo" image from the "Wacky and Wonderful" image book. I filled it in with diamond glaze also.
I was so mad at myself because I had a little glass bottle(7 gypsies),that I've had for years and never used ,..that I wanted to hang in place of the watch face. I had filled it with little gems , glitter and diamond glaze and was waiting for it to try , so I could attach it...BUT... I decided I needed to tap it on the counter to get ONE tiny little air bubble out, and... I broke it!
Sometimes ,as my parents would have said... " you just need to leave well enough alone!) lol

This was so fun to do... now it's been bugging me all day, that there were'nt lots more of these, because they would be a fun class to teach. I'm keeping my eyes peeled.
Hope everyone is having a good day!

Nice people!!!

There is only one thing cooler than "nice people" and that's... "nice people who go out of their way to be nice to people they have never even met". Now that is cool! I have to tell you this just started my day off perfectly. This box of .... amazing goodies was sent to me by a person in "blog land", I have never met. She wrote me last week, saying she has been reading my blog and wanted to send me these pieces of Shawnee pottery. She said they had been given to her some time ago, and she just didn't have the right place to put them ,and thought I might enjoy them. Is that just the sweetest thing! Well, I'm telling you this much... I LOVE THEM...and I DO have a place to put them! Woo Hoo! Now that is what I call a "Random Act of Kindness".
Thank you MIMI !!! "You've" inspired "me" , to do something super nice for someone I don't know , this week mimi...Thankyou! I don't know what it will be yet...but I'll be watching for the opportunity to arise. I know it sounds cheesy, but it would be fun for each of us to try doing one nice thing for someone we hardly know , this week. It cant do anything but make the world a nicer place, right? lol
If you do.. and you want to share... I'd love to hear about it.... post a coment and tell me! I will just be fun to hear the different things ..big or small.

And on top of it all..here's the beautiful card that she made,
that was in the box. Card by: Mimi Hornberger
And...the day gets better and better. Deb and I took Jan (my sister) for lunch today for her birthday. Afterward a little shopping... where else??? but the scrapbook store.
Speaking of nice people... you'll never meet one nicer than this. My sis is would seriously win the "Nice Award" if there was one! (just ask anyone who knows her!)
Here she is with her surprise birthday treat after lunch. We had lunch at Mazatlan (the great Mexican restaurant I've talked about ( in Lincoln with the fantastic margaritas).
We decided today , we are calling Becky and Ruth (the other girls in our scrap group) to line things up to come here soon for our next get together on a Friday night. It would be so fun!

I cant believe how many people have birthdays in June! Wow! My sweet blog friend Pattyjo had one this month too. Happy Birthday Pattyjo!!!
And.... my dear friend Cat!
If you have a minute... click HERE ,and wish her a Happy Birthday , will ya!
(hey...if you don't know her...it could be you "Random Act of Kindness" for the Week! lol

Catching up!

First of all... HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY SWEET SISTER JAN!!! I hope your day is fantastic!!

Super Busy weekend around here. Both Boys are home and have been in and out with friends. It's "Old Settlers weekend" ...which is a big yearly event for the small two up the road. I always laugh because , when they set up the carnival, it's just set up right in the middle of the road. lol
If we follow the gravel road we live on , right into town.. it turns to pavement, and RIGHT THERE.. you guessed it..CARNIVAL. The first year we lived here, I was like..."What"??? The road just ends and we have a carnival??? Now it just tickles me. They have a entire weekend of events, carnival, parade, dance , beer garden, farmers market ect.
I was in Omaha over the week for a bit , visiting friends and doing some shopping. It's been a nice weekend, but boy has it gone by fast.
I didnt have much time in my room to create but...

Here is a card I did (before the crazy weekend started) using Crafty Secrets papers, stamps and Cotton Images.
I know birds are so popular right now, but I've loved birds for years. I think I get it from my mom, she has always loved birds.

Last week I had gotten some fresh sunflowers to put in a big vase on the table. They were just so pretty when the light was shining on them. I had to take some quick shots.

I ended up really liking how they turned out s0.....

When I was at Sam's Club this weekend , I got them printed off in 8x10

Because I decided I wanted to mount them on chipboard and hang a number of them in the hallway on these pants hangers. I have wanted to do this with either some photos or some layouts , since the first time I saw it done. I love the look. I love the idea of being able to change them out, according to the season ect...
I have also decided I'm going to alter one of these pants hangers for a Fancy Pants layout I'm working on.
I'm going to through one of those times when I have the ideas, but not the time. ggrrr... With CHA just around the corner, things are going to get busy... so I need to not let my creative mind wander...and take me off track. LOL OH trust me ,this happens alot! It doest even have to me my "Creative" mind... just MY MIND in general! lol

I wanted to show you a couple of fun things I found over the weekend .(on sale ..of course)
"on sale" is what make it FUN! I'm always looking for a bargin. It's the thrill of the hunt, I think. lol
I got a couple of these dress form things ( $3) ... to ALTER of course. I'm thinking they are screaming "Crafty Secrets Hearwarming Vintage"!!! I cant wait to break out my AccuCut dies, and have at it.
(After I finish all my other things... I know!) lol
And I also found this cool mirror for ($3.20). I wish you could see the beautiful robins egg blue it is.
Oh,... and I just have to share some of the photos I took of my friend Johns Corvette for him. He is getting ready to sell it , so I was just going to take a few shots for that purpose, but I thought it would be fun for him to have some cool ones to keep. They turn out pretty nice , so when I was getting my other photos developed at Sam's Club, I had some the coolest ones, made into larger prints. He was bummed ,because after he saw the photos , and set them out, he said. "I'm not sure I want to sell it now". That kind of back fired huh? lol

I'm not into cars at all, but I have to say..riding in this is pretty fun! T top off , great CD playing, sunny day...yep fun!...
I better end my playtime now... lots to do around there, and tomorrow Deb and I are taking Jan( my sister) to lunch for her birthday. After that.. I better stay on task! lol
Hope you all hat a great weekend!

The weekend

It's been a crazy busy weekend, that 's why I missed posting yesterday , (and almost today). I'm so used to blogging EVERYDAY, that when I don't , it bugs me.
Today..no photos, but I promise tomorrow. (I also hate posting without photos of "something"! lol
I need a little color to liven this place up a bit!lol

Friday, I had a totally social day! I have just been feeling like I'm a "bad" friend lately. Like I was talking about last week, after I while you miss doing the things you really love to to... well, spending time with my friends is something I love, and lately, I haven't taken much time for that.
I had a nice "chatty" lunch, catching up with Bec. Looked at some of her latest projects and I'm always amazed at the girls talent. You can check her our at "Scrap in Style TV", and look for her in the new Foofa la book.

Then off to Omaha to pick up somethings, and met my sweet friend Chris at Target, for a little ... "shop n' chat".

Then met up with John to take some shots of his Corvette for him to get ready to sell. (And a few keepsake shots) They turned out pretty cool. After getting one of the best ones, blown up into a 8x10 to frame... he said , he couldn't put it put where he could look at it everyday right now,... it'll make him not want to sell. lol

I'll post some of the photos tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!~

Yummy Muffins

When things get a little too hectic , I know it's time for me to just take a step back , to get things in perspective again. This is usually when I walk out of my studio and work in my flowers or head for the kitchen. I used to love to bake ,now that the boys aren't around much , on top of the fact Dan doesn't eat sweets and I done "need" them... well.. I just don't do it as much. I love too though.. it just feels homey. Same with working in my flowers, or putzing around that house , changing things out ,for the season, or setting up new little vignettes.
I know I've posted my moms blueberry muffin recipe before, but it's been a while so , here it is. They are the best I've ever tasted, and so easy!

The fresh blueberry, looked so yummy yesterday, I had to get some.

Mom's Blueberry Muffins

2 cups flour
2 teas baking powder
1/2 teas salt
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup marg
2 eggs
1 teas vanilla
1/2 c milk
2 cups blueberries

I sprinkle with cinn and sugar.

Bake 375 for 25 min
makes 1 doz

I always make a double batch..because they freeze really well.

Yesterday, I got a layout picked up for the November issue of Scrapbook Trends , so I make another one from last month ScrapMuse Kit to replace it in the gallery.
It's little sweetie pie , Kirstyn. My brother Dans, little grandaughter. Is'nt she a doll?

Okay, I have been BAD about mentioning my family and friends birthdays. BAD Vicki!
My nieces, Kiley, Amber and Carrie ,all had June Birthday, along with my sister-in-law Lori, My Sweet Cousin Myrna, and my friend Janel. My sister Jan's birthday is Sunday. Deb and I are going to Lincoln to take her to lunch. And today is my sweet Neely's birthday!
This is a photo of her and I , (about 2 years ago)

Happy Birthday everyone!!! ( and you too, if you have a June "B" day!!)

I love you Neely Jo!!!

Oh happy day!

I'm so happy that my computer is up and running again. Now, it's just getting everything installed properly and finding where it all is. I had a few frustrating moments today... but over all, it's good!

I'm posting some of my photos from yesterday now.
I didn't really work in my studio much today at all, (which is really unusual, because usually I live in here.. at least it feels like it). I just wanted to be outside. I putzed around in my flowers...and it was so nice. I just know with CHA just around the corner... I'll be paying my dues in my room!

I stopped by to see Craig and Jerri for a bit, and got to see Jerri's new bunny... "Carmel". Is this the cutest thing ever, or what? I want one!! (okay..not a good idea... if you remember my "Molly and the baby bunny story". I'm still traumatized when I think about that!
I have never seen a bunny so tame a relaxed. Craig said he used to have them when he was a kid too, and that they were that tame. I guess I've never really been around them, so I didn't know.

This bun bun was so tame it just laid on it's back in my hand and let me rub it's tummy , until it fell asleep.
I LOVE THIS BUNNY! ( it was good to see Jerri and Craig too!!! lol)

This is the new place in town that Julie and I met for lunch yesterday. It's very nice , and the food is good. Fremont needs more places like this, so I hope it's around for a while.

It was a beautiful day yesterday, not too hot, so I waited outside for Julie for a few minutes. It was so relaxing.

Everything is done up beautifully. You would never know it from the inside ,but this is all done , inside an old house.
It used to be called Carey Cottage, and was more of an "English Tea" type setting. Too very different styles, from then til now, but I like them both.

Yucky photo of me, but here is Julie and I.

It' s like "friends week" around here, I'm meeting my friend Pam tomorrow and Becky for lunch on Friday... after that off to see, Chris and John. I seem to get too caught up with things and suddenly realize how it's been a long time since I've seen these special people. Life is short and there's no guaranties... I'm lucky enough to have some pretty darn fantastic people in my life... and I've decided... I'm not going to let myself get so caught up in the rat race that I don't have time to spent enjoying them. As busy as we all are (like everyone seems to be these days) we're determined to make time. I wish I could get together with all my blog friends toooooo!

Come on over!
