A little fun at Grandma's

These little yahoo's just crack me up! Doesnt it look like they are having the most serious conversation? lol They were just outside sitting by Grandma's mums chatting up a storm.
It was so good to relax and just enjoy spend some time with family today. Mom made her famous mushroom steak and potatoes.. and it was just so yummy. Nothing better than setting around the table at moms after a fantastic homemade meal, laughing, and reminising.
I have to tell you this story my brother Ray was sharing about how he and Linda had gone for a drive a coupld weekend ago and went through Neligh Nebraska.( a town we always pass through when going to see family in SD) While going through , they noticed that , not only do they still have a drive in theater there, but that it was open.(Starlite Drive-in) So they decided they would stay there that night, and actually go to the drive in that night. They were telling about how cool it was, and we were talking about how fun it would be for the whole family to meet there and take in a show. My kids certainly have never been to a drive in movie. I think it would be so fun for the to experience that . My brother said he had googled it ,and that there are actually 3 open drive in's, in Nebraska. I was suprised. He said the speakers that you used to hang on your window no longer worked, so you had to tune your radio station in to the specific station to listen..but it was great. They said that there was all this nicely painted play equiptment for the kids to play on , down in front like there always used to be. And they were telling us that at the bottom of the flyer they passed out at the drive in, it said "We know that having your radio on , can sometime drain your battery, if your car does not start when you are ready to leave, we have complimentary jumper cables."lol We were talking about small town charm, and how much we really all do love living in Nebraska.

J , had to show me his moves, out in Gramma's front yard.

he was SERIOUS about whatever it was , he was doing. lol

Checking out Grandma's mums. ( they didnt smell as good as he thought they would)

Summersalts....

were the mission...

and he wasnt giving up

untill he had it mastered!

J isnt crazy about posing for the camers...but G, is all about hamming it up!

I had to laugh today though...usually J, isnt big on wanting to pass out hugs and kisses when it's time to go, but today, I said "can I have just a little kiss?", he said "no. Dont you want a BIG one?" lol.... Well... YES to do , as a matter of fact!! lol
We are so blessed to have these little ones to make us smile!

It's not Autumn without Pumpkin Bread

I spent the day, just doing "homey" stuff for the most part ,and enjoying having the windows open enjoying the cool breeze coming through. I love days like this!
I did give both the pups a bath.. and although it's alot of work and not the most fun ( for me or for them)... it feels good to have it done. Molly really fights it every inch of the way... so I have to try to "trick" her, to corral her long enough.. to get it done. It's quite a sight. ( I know...your sorry you missed it!) lol Let's just say, I needed a shower and a nap , by the time it was over. I got a shower, up no nap! Darn!
**************************************************
I know I shared this recipe here last fall, but sharing again...because around here , it's just not fall till I make these. I've used this recipe since the kids were little, and it's so good. It's easy , it makes a big batch and it freezes really well. I used to wrap them individually and freeze them, when Wes was in College and lived in the dorms, so he could grab one as he wanted. Now I do the same at home for us. It works really well.

It mixes up all on one bowl also, so you don't have lots of dishes to deal with. I got this recipe from mom, and I know it has been around for a while , because it said you could bake it in 3, two pound coffee cans???
Well, I don't do that, I make them into muffins or into mini loaves.
I used to bake alot, but dont much these days. I guess I figure , not only do I not have the time, but I don't need the calories. The boys aren't around and Dan doesn't eat sweets.

Well, here you go. If you get a chance... give em a whirl..they are pretty Yummy!
Pumpkin muffins/bread
3 cups sugar (I used less)
1 cup oil
4 eggs
2 (15oz cans) pumpkin
2/3 cup water
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinn
1 tsp nutmeg
3 1/2 cups flour
2 tsp baking soda
Combine all ingredients and mix with electric mixer. Pour into muffin tins or loaf pans sprayed with non stick spray. Makes 3 large loaves or 3 dozen muffins.
Bake at 350
Bake loaves approx 60 minutes and muffins approx 30 minute

Enjoy!!!

Woo Hoo it's Friday!

Wow, this day flew by! I've been working ...really I have. lol I just can't share alot right now. But the boxes below are full of projects that atleast made it to the post office today. Woo Hoo! One was a project for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L and the others are some projects for a Design Originals book. Feels good to have those things ready to go. I love working on projects, but... the "paper stuff" like supply lists and instructions... not so much. I woke up at 12:30am this morning and couldn't sleep so finally ... I got some of that "not so fun stuff" done. YAY!

I can share this... it's a project for Scrapbook Adhesives. It's a clock made from a round scalloped PageFrame. The Chipboard, papers, and rubons are all Fancy Pants. It bugs me that the chipboard clock part looks so yellow in the photo, it's really not... it's more sage.
I chatted a bit with Linda Duke today, it was so nice ... I think we could have talked all day. Linda is on the Crafty Secrets Design Team and is such a nice person ,and.... SO extremely Talented. Check out this ornament she made with CS stamps. HERE GORGEOUS!!!
*********
I had a fun mail week. Below is a project I have in this months Paper Trends. Yep...that's me when I was little. I'm holding a kitten at Grandma and Grandpas farm.

The two layouts below are in this months Scrapbook Trends . The little painted Tootsies are my sweet little niece Kirstyn's. I had to snap a shot of them that day. She had them all painted up pretty for Great Grandma's 85th Birthday Party. Soooo Cute!

The layout below is of Arial, my cousin Paula's grand daughter. That girl is SO photogenic!! A natural beauty.

Hope you all have a nice relaxing weekend planned. All I know is I'm going to enjoy this beautiful fall weather!!! I love FALL!

New Crafty Secrets stamp set peek

OH... I'm loving the new mini , ART stamp set Crafty Secrets Heartwarming Vintage will be releasing soon. Wings, Crown, wand, sheet music, music notes, little bird, bracket , and cool face image. I'm going to wear this set out!!!

I should have taken these photos earlier.. the sun was already starting to go down, by the time I got around to it.

I had this little paper machae trunk in my supply closet, so I pulled it out and used a number of different colors of Glimmer Mist on it, and let them blend. I wish you could see the end result better... I love the mix of color, and boy to they work great on paper machae. My friend Shawn

Bonorama Mama used it on a paper machae pumpkin and it turned out gorgeous. I had to give it a whirl.... and it works great.

I used gold embossing powder on the wings crown and wand.

Who is the baby , you ask? umm... I have no idea. lol but she's pretty cute huh? lol It was just one if the vintage photos I got at the treasure/junk shop, a while back.

See that random stamping in the background that looks like sheet music? It's one of the stamps on the set also.

The word "ART" is all one stamp. I cut the tips of the strip of paper and then used the gold embossing powder on them.

The papers I used are from the Classic Paper Pad. The pink label below is also one from the sheet of labels in the Classic Paper Pad.

I covered the top of the lid with one of my favorite papers from the Classic papers , and then spritzed it with some of the same colors of Glimmer Mist I used on the rest of the trunk, for continuity.

Actually I worked on this project yesterday and had it all uploaded and saved on my blog today, knowing that I would be spending most of the day in Lincoln, while Brent(nephew) , had his back surgery....BUT... as luck would have have it... I had car trouble about 15 miles from home, and had to make the choice to turn around and come back. ( but he is now out of surgery and doing well) I was so bummed , and felt like poo for not being able to be there, but it was 4:30am , dark, with no one on the roads and the car smelled really hot. I knew it wasn't wise to push it and get stranded, so I turned around. I had the cooler packed and in the car .. I was all showered and awake, and ..........cant go anywhere!!! What do people do at that pathetic time of day? lol I am NOT a morning person! lol I tried to do some work at the computer ,but it was so boring , I got to a point I could hardly keep my eyes open. .. SO makeup on and hair curled... I went back to bed! ( and you just know... it was a good hair day!!!) Why does it always work out that way... important event... there isn't enough hair spray or gel in the universe to make my hair look decent... Going NOWHERE... guaranteed good hair day! Never fails! lol
Anyway, before I stop my endless rambling, I wanted to remember to mention the cool kit my Amazingly talented friend Catherine has coming up at Heart and Hand . She has it posted on her blog.... Check it out. I LOVE IT! That girl does amazing work!
Okay, kids... until tomorrow....

ScrapMuse Sept Kit Projects

Sharing a few of my Sept ScrapMuse Kit projects. Once again.. it was a beautiful kit and the Design Team just did amazing things with it... so check out the gallery if you get a chance.
and now that the members have their kits and will be uploading , be sure to check the Members gallery, to see that beautiful things they create.
Besides my ScrapMuse kit, on this altered project, I used some twigs from the yard and part of a cardboard box, ( and of course the little hanger it's displayed on).
This photo is my moms side of the family. "Stoltenberg"

Lots of distressing and inking going on here. This is my favorite kind of project... I could mess around with a project like this for hours , if I didn't stop myself. It's so relaxing ..I just get lost in it.

Loved using all the "textury" stuff... burlap, twigs, cardboard, ect.

Of course, I couldn't resist, giving it all a touch of "Iridescent Gold" Glimmer Mist.

I love using my CatEye inks from Colorbox... and Chestnut Roan.. is my current color obsession! LOVE IT!

The little girl in the front with her hands on the little boys shoulders , is my mom. The little boy is my Uncle Al and the other little girl to the left is my Aunt Viv. My Great Grandparents are right behind them. My Grandma is along the far right side, standing behind the boy with the hat.
I love photos like this!!

The project below is an altered photo holder, from back in the day. lol The kiddos in the photo are my dh and his sister. Lov'n that Fancy Pants Felt!

And the layout below is my beautiful Mom. Who would believe she's celebrated her 85th birthday? She is one amazing lady.

The note paper with lines , I used was white, I just spritzed it with "Pink Grapefruit" Glimmer Mist to have it match my other Kit papers.

My nephew is having surgery tomorrow , so I'm going to Lincoln to keep his wife Diana company and sit with her while he's in . It's back surgery, and I'm sure things will all go fine, but please keep him in your Prayers if you would. ... Along with my dear friend Chris ,who will be having surgery tomorrow in Omaha. Thanks!

Okay.. off to work on a fun project for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L. Hope to be able to share it with you soon.

Hope you enjoy the day! It's a sunny , but cool, beautiful fall day here today... and I love it!!

ScrapOnizer

You who read know that I love to share new things I find , that I'm excited about... and this is defiantly one of those things! It's called ScrapOnizer The Clear Solution This booth was near us at Memory Trends and I couldnt wait to get a minute to so over and check it out. I wish my photos would have turned out better , but hopefully you will be able to see them okay. I was so amazed at the examples they had on display in their booth showing the different ways these can be used. I LOVE organization anyway, but the fact that you can alter these REALLY made them fun. Organization and Altering??? I'm all over that!

Obviously you can store way more than Scrapbooking supplies in these. The dividers make it so great for storing tons of things. They are lightweight but very sturdy.

I just looked on the side of the package and it says, it includes

4 Toolbox Cases

1 Custom Shelf Case Holder

17 Self Adhesive labels

4 Removable Compartment Trays-1 of each

Two, Three, Four & Eight Compartments

(Toolbox Set 4.5w x 12.25"h x 10.25d"

Individual Case Dimensions 1"w x 12"h x 10"d

But the cool part... other than how MUCH they hold, is this...... you can alter them, to fit your color, theme , or style, to fit in any room. Ummm...yeah...mine will be in my studio.

On the finished one , inside the case..she had added a magnetic sheet under the paper, so those are decorative magnets attached to the front and side.

They certainly look like they hold alot. I'm thinking I want to fill mine with some of the things I use most often , and be able to keep it right on my desk, so it's convienient. I also love that idea that the trays are removable, because being a 8 1/2 x 11 scrapper, it would be great for a few sheets of paper, esp if I wanted to take it with me when I'm teaching.

They had them done up , organizing, everything from baseball cards to nuts and bolts. Fibers and threads, embellishments.... OH.. and for acrylic stamps!!!

Check out how well they fit into one of those canvas hanging organizers. I'll defiantly be doing mine in the holder..(so I can alter it)lol, but it's pretty cool that you have so many options.

I saw alot of cool things at MT ,but this just totally impressed me, so I wanted to share. I'll share my finished Organizer with you when I get it all done. I wish I could start right now...darn! I have supply lists and directions to write up for some other projects..... grrr... I just wanna PLAY! lol

About the Fundraiser

I just wanted to post this , for those of you following the fundraiser. Julie posted this in the comments yesterday, and I wanted to be sure that those of you who took part, saw it.

Julie Higgins said...
Thank you to all of you who read this blog and have supported Dave and his family with your thoughts, prayers, donations for the silent auction, and monetary donations. As the Barbershop Quartet sang 'It's a Wonderful World' and Dave walked in the sanctuary with his big smile, I could hardly hold back the tears! And as I left the church at 11 p.m. last night knowing the total donations and money raised was already well over $10,000 and they were still counting it, I could not hold back the tears. Not only did we cry but we stopped for a moment to say a prayer of thanks to God! Planning this benefit was a very rewarding experience and like Vicki said, we found out just how many, many caring and wonderful people there are in the world! Even today there were donations coming in yet! Julie

Weekend in KS

It was a fast but fun weekend in KS at Mark and Tayleen's ...oh so cute store! Here are a few pictures of the weekend I wanted to share.

6 1/2 hours in the car to get there, but after the crazy flight home from Vegas... I was ready for some down time. It was relaxing.
Larned is a darling town with lots of cute little shops. I picked up some trims , buttons and a vintage shirt for Wes at a couple of the antique shops in town.

The stores all had so much personality, and everyone we met was just so friendly.

I just cant say enough about how darn cool this store is.
They had all my class stuff displayed so nice. That altered mailbox in the background is one they had purchased from me some time ago. It was a feature project I had done for an assignment for Scrapbook Answers Mag.
Their store is in a COOL old building on main street. It's a coffee shop on one side and scrapbook store on the other. This buildings architecture is amazing!

Meet me at "SCRAPS"

Below is the coffee shop side.

This is the scrapbook side. They have a great selection of supplies, esp Fancy Pants!! YAY!! lol

She has everything displayed so CUTE! This place has such character, and is so inviting, you wouldn't believe it.

All the extra touches make this place what it is.

This is part of the work room area.

Oh... I tell you when I saw this powder room I was just giddy! PINK everywhere! And check out these pink lockers! Ohhhhhhhhh.... it is SO cool!

I'm telling you this much ... if you're ever anywhere near... you should check it out.

The photo to the left is Tayleen (the owner and I)

Blogger, (or my computer) whichever,... is really taking a long time to upload photos today, so I'm just uploading a few to share ,but I'm telling you , the girls that took the classes on Saturday, just blew me away... talk about self starters! wow...they just went right to it. They each added their own personal touches to their projects and they all turned out just gorgeous... each one totally unique from the other.

Thanks to ALL the girls in Larned and to Tayleen and Mark for making me feel so totally welcome there. It was a fantastic weekend!

Be sure to check below , I had so much to share, I posted twice today! lol
