TECC Challenge 40 / Happy Halloween

****Happy Halloween!! **** Go ahead grab a handful. lol

Well, not only is it Halloween , but it's Friday.. so it's Taylor Challenge day! Woo hoo!

And here's this weeks sketch from Taylor.

After working ahead a bit and making my card for this challenge.. I realized last night the card I had made wasn't the least bit " Hallweenish" , eeeekkk and this post will be on Halloween. That just couldn't be.........

so two cards this week. ha Solved that problem.

** So here is my "Halloweenish" card, using this weeks sketch.

Halloween image , and stamp, from Crafty Secrets Heartwarming Vintage.

and.. here is the first card I had done with the sketch.. (seen what I mean.. not exactly Halloweenish).

This image is from the Crafty Secrets Christmas Image and Journal book. Stamp from the Vintage Christmas stamp set.

I used a Sakura Stardust gelly roll over the holly stamp..and Stickles on the snow and the image.

This weeks cupcake samplers is Mary Fish * Stampn Pretty* So pop on over and check out her take on the sketch... AND.. the lovely creations of the other Cupcake Crew girls

I guess I'm going as the crazy dog lady. lol

New Fancy Pants layout (Splendid line)

Well, Jan and I got through all our class kits yesterday.. so that fills good. It's always fun to get to spend some chatty time with my sis. She also brought me a CD Keith ( my bil) has made me with the Tilly's on Sesame Street. I hope it's on youtube soon, so I can share the link.. I keep checking up nothing yet. It's SO cute!

So I don't for get I wanted to mention to you to pop over to the Heartwarming Vintage Blog and Check out the new post. I don't remember if I ever even posted a photo of the "Spoolie Bra" I made for Crafty Secrets.. because it was way back before I even started blogging.. but Sandy has a photo of it posted with the story behind it.. and it's pretty funny. The story alone is a hoot!

The layout below is one I did using the new "Splendid" line from Fancy Pants. As you can see, you can easily adapt it to "non Valentine" layouts also. The colors are so fun.

You should be able to click to see it larger. I used my Heidi Swapp distresser on the edges. Fancy Pants, paper, felt, and rubons. And the little doll.. that's Addison.

I got some fun mail today , so I wanted to share ... The card below is from my blog friend Bev...

Check it out.. again, she used one of my photos for the background of the card. How cool is that!

That little girl with the pumpkin and the crow just tickles me!!! Thanks Bev!!

I also got this card from Tera Fujan. This girl is the technique queen, I tell ya! Thanks Tera!

Christmas Ornament

I pop around with seasonal projects lately to the point I'm sure you never know what to expect here. lol It's fall...

and I jump to Christmas. Well, I guess that's better that Valentines Day.. like last week huh. Don't hold your breath to long on that.. I have some Val Day projects I'll be posting again very soon. lol Keeping you on your toes, am I?
Anyway.. just wanted to show you this super quick and easy way to make these Christmas ornaments. Oh.. btw.. did any of you notice in one of my posts last week. ..I wrote "Chrisman" in place of "Christmas" in the title of my post??? hahaha Oh.. trust me ... that's EASY to do. Try writing out about 50 Christmas Cards.... "Merry Christmas from the Chrismans"... it happens alot. ha
Anyway.. you can get these for less than a 1$ at Micheal's. I spritzed mine with Glimmer Mist first to get the color I wanted for my background. (BE SURE to let it DRY COMPLETELY) before going any further. This is really porous so I only used enough GM to cover.. I didn't over do and get it really saturated so it would take a long time to dry.
After it's dry...

I cut out an image from the Crafty Secrets "Christmas" Image and journal Book.

I use Diamond glaze..but you could use Crystal Lacquer, Mod Podge ect...
I first brushed a layer all across the top of the Glimmer Misted Ornament...then laid down my image and brushed over the entire top. I did a couple of coats ..letting it completely dry in between.
While the final coat was still wet.. I set down the little gems.
After is was completely dry I went back and added a little "Stickles" for highlights.
It was so easy.. I was thinking it would be a great kids project for gifts for Grandparents ect.
I'd probably have them Glimmer Misted ahead and dried .. so you wouldnt have to have them wait for that "drying time". You might loose em. ha

I was going to take my mom into Omaha to the Eye Doc today, but my sis called and she has the week off , so she said she wanted to do it, so she could take mom to lunch and get to spend a little time with her. Afterwards she'll ( my sis) come here, and we'll go over our class stuff for the Albion classes .. so that we are all ready for that big weekend.
The kids were here last night,we had enchiladas for dinner, and we all watched a movie. I don't know how I've been so lucky having them come home so much lately..but I'll just be thankful. ( happy face)

Hope you are all having a Fantastic Day!

A couple of new projects

I worked a couple of new projects yesterday using Crafty Secrets Heartwarming Vintage "Clear Art stamps"
The "W" on this layout is from the "Artsy Alphabet" set... the journaling lines below from the "Frame it" set. Cute baby boy .. Wyatt. Gabby was over, doing my hair one day and Wyatt decided that the sunflowers in the vase on my table looked pretty interesting to him. It was so cute. The little sweetie has grown up so much since these photos..but I still just love em.

I embossed the "W" with black.
Journaling lines. But check out what all is on this set. "Frame It"
The fabric sunflower image is from the "Fall" Homespun Cotton Scraps
I just used a glue stick to attach it and my trusty tracing wheel for the faux stitched look. You can machine stitch these on to projects..but you sure don't have to.

You have to check out the Heartwarming Vintage blog and hear about the new stamp sets that have arrived. This is one of them Snow Bunnies
As you know .. I'm not much of a image "colorer"... don't even own a copic marker ( sad.. I know).. but this was fun to color just using a little chalk and watercolor pencils.
It is the most darling stamp set.
Cute little sayings on the set also.
Papers are Jenni Bowlin.

Okay... we need some groceries in this house.. old mother hubbards cupboards are bare. lol
Off to the store for me.
Hope youre day is wonderful!

Fall Page Frame Project

And there went another weekend. Always amazes me how fast they go. I've been trying to work ahead a bit, because I know November is going to be a busy month. Yesterday I worked on a PageFrame project. I have been wanting to do something with this photo of our dear neighbors of 20 years. They are just the sweetest people you could ever want to meet. We love living in the country..but still wish they lived next door.
I took this photo of them at their Granddaughter's wedding over the summer, and decided then I was going to do something for them with it. I have another copy of this photo and plan to do a layout for our album also.

This is one of my very favorite PageFrame shapes.
My sis came be some of these Prima gems.. and I couldn't wait to use them.

Hope they like it.

It's an absolutely Gorgeous "sunny", but chilly fall morning.

Okay.. so I have to leave you with a laugh. If you haven't been here and yearbooked yourself , you should .. it's hilarious. Yearbook Yourself
You just upload your photo and pick a year. I loved this hairstyle .. so 1966 for me. lol

Enjoy your day!

Fancy Pants "Arctic Chill" line

Boy , it's going to be a long winter if I'm having a hard time dealing with the "chill" in the air now. I just want to crawl back under the covers in the morning. brrr
It's not snowing here.. just raining ,but I have a feeling snow might not be that far away. I swear I thought I saw some mixed in the rain the other day when I ran to the post office. It's been raining here all week. Realllly Wet!!
Thought I'd share a layout I just finished using the other new Fancy Pants release..
"Arctic Chill"
It's a beautiful line. You can see more here .. Fancy Pants Blog... MISS FANCY PANTS
The circle behind also from a Fancy Pants Transparent Overlay
The Chipboard, buttons and brads are all FP also.
The Polk-a-dot piece behind is also transparent overlay.

I just found out TODAY is the Day Tilly and the Wall are on Sesame Street. There was no heads up on this one.. I'm bummed because I missed it! The only thing that makes me feel better is that I'm sure it will be on You Tube eventually .. so I'll try to link it here, if/when it is.
My sister (Neely's mom) , has a daycare and just happened to catch it and even tape most of it.. so that's good. It may be on again at 5am tomorrow morning.. since they repeat
Back to work for me. Trying to work ahead for next month, since I know it's going to be a busy one. Classes in Albion, working the Creating Keepsakes show in Seattle, and ThanksGiving to mention a few. November's going to be hopp'n.
Still raining here.. still gloomy. .. but sometimes that just fall huh? lol
Hope you are all having a wonderful day!

Fall Projects

I think I rocked everyones world with skipping Halloween , Thanksgiving and Christmas.. and jumping right to Valentines Day .. yesterday.. so I'm taking a step, or two back to "Fall" atleast.
haha.. Well, for today anyway! I have been working on Val Day projects with my new Fancy Pants papers.. so look out... we'll back on Valentines next week. ha

I thought I'd share a few more "fallish" projects from last year.. ( while I'm busy working on Val day now) lol
Papers and Images Crafty Secrets Heartwarming Vintage.
Crafty Secrets Halloween images ... have always been my very favorites.... soooo cute!

Below is a gift bag project done a few years ago for Scrapbook Answers. The assignment was to create a gift bag incorporating things you would have around the house. I started with a plain brown "handled" bag... added Halloween stickers from Crafty Secrets... and some sticker letters and patterned papers.

The black "tissue type" papers for the inside are from a black bag.. cut with a deco scissors.. and the filler pieces are from paper scraps that were run through a paper shredder. ( I put a number of them together at one time and folded them for the crumpled look)

I've been meaning to share these photos from the UNO magizine. It's an article about Neely (and Tilly and the Wall).

* Thanks Patti, for sending this to me. I hadn't seen it yet, and she was nice enough to send me a copy.

I had an email from Neely yesterday and they are having a great time , on tour in England right now.
( Neely is in the middle in this shot)**********************************************************
Okay.. since this post is all over the place anyway.. I'm changing gears again. I wanted to answer a couple of questions. First .. I number of you have emailed asking what kind of sewing machine I use. Well.. the most inexpensive machine Walmart sells. lol
I love it and it works great for me... a total "paper" sewing girl. This machine hasn't seen much fabic. lol

***Glimmer Mist color update***
The other thing I wanted to mention , so you would all be aware if you were interested in the color. My friend Shawn T mentioned to me that the other day when I posted the Paper Mache Christmas boxes , the color I had posted was "Hollyberry". After looking she emailed saying she couldn't find it on listed on the Tattered Angels website... that's because the name was changed quite some time ago to "Red Velvet" Just wanted to let you all know about that correction.

One last thing to share. I love seeing random art in different places.. and the other day when I was in Lincoln I saw this fun, colorful painting on the side of this building. Kudos to them for brightening up this area with something so cheery!

Since this post couldn be more "random".. I'll toss in something else . haha Catherine has some great things on sale in her etsy right now... if you want to check them out. They are gorgeous!
Catherine Matthews-Scanlon

Okay kids... go play! tee hee
