Let the festivities begin

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! We had a nice weekend, it just seemed like it passed by way too fast.  I have been working on getting more of my Christmas things out, little by little. I dug out some of my old favorites, and even stopped at one of my favorite spots and found a few new(old) treasures.

Saturday I got to see my friend Julie, and spend some time chatting with her. It was a real treat because her kids are home right I got to see them too. Even snapped a few photos.   I have a couple of "Julies" for friends, this is not the one who wrote the story I just posted the other day. This Julie , is the the "Early Childhood" teacher who's paraprofessional I was for almost 10 year. We are friends for life! I love her to pieces !
I watched these kids grow up!

I have to share a few of the photos.
I love being around "girls" when it comes to taking photos..because they are so much more "willing" than dudes are. lol  Michelle let me take photos... and never a complaint. Fun! This is Michelle, Julies daughter. She is now a fashion designer and about to start her new job in NY.  ( awww... I remember when she used to sit at my desk in the room after school and color) Man, kids grow up fast!

What a fun day. Julie, Michelle and I chatted long after the guys took off. ( I think the guys had, had enough) lol   of  photos.. and girl talk.
Later in the day my sis and brother-in-law came over to watch the game.  I had worked the night before on this thankyou card to give my brother-in-law for taking our family photos  this summer when we were all home. He is an amazing photographer, and has been so inspiring to me ... as I try to learn more about taking photos.   I used stamps from the "Photo Studio" Clear Art Stamps from Crafty Secrets. They are so great!

You can see this stamp set up close here  PHOTO STUDIO

My sis made these. Leave it to her.  Not only is she an amazing cook..but her presentation is always so pretty. ( did you notice there is one missing from the plate in the background?) guilty! It was delicious!!

I'm kind of jumping around but here are a few more photos of my favorite Christmas things I've been putting out.
The little Santa below is a vintage treasure I found for $2 this year. Love him!

I found this the same day. It was still in the original box and works perfectly.  It's a door ringer.  When you push his nose, it plays different Christmas tunes.  ( did I mention ... loud and long) wow. Probably why they never used it and it was still in the box.). ha

Rather than taking down my banner in my kitchen window.. I decided just to hang some of  my Shiny brights from it.

We had a nice time with Jenkins watching the game Saturday night... even if we lost the game.  We still had good food and great company. Homemade soup, rubens, dips, pie... ect.
  Totally enjoyable evening!

It's this little guys birthday today. (that little guy would be my hubby)

I spent some serious time in the kitchen yesterday.... making these for him to take to work. Dan and Jarad work at the same place... and Kate brought pizza in on Friday for everyone for Jarad's birthday.  Dan said to me... "Jarad told everyone  I would bring Chocolate Cake for my birthday"  lol.. not really sure how that all played out..but ... cupcakes for all!  (Kate.. stop making me look bad) hahaha

Actually while I had the mess in full swing.. I worked on some for my small town post office employees.  They are SO good to me and put up with all my packages and mailing. They always go out of their way to make things as easy as possible for me.  I usually bake them something a couple of times a year. Just a small token of my thanks. They are the best!
I had to laugh because they joked with me about how long these must have taken me. I realized quickly that they thought they were bought not homemade, since they were in those cute boxes.  I love these cute boxes.  You can find them in the Christmas isle at Hobby Lobby. (just make sure whoever you give your treats too.. knows YOU made the goodies that are in them). tee hee.

I don't want to forget to tell you about what is going on over at Yesterday on Tuesday     Malia has great giveaways going on all week.. so pop over and get your name in, and check out all the great inspiration you can find there.  Here is today's post.

Now.. I'm off to play! I have my box of Vintage Street Market goodess on my desk.. and we have a date. lol  Oh.. what a bunch of fun stuff.

 Sharing soon!

Vicki- for the record you definitely win for making something homemade for the guys at work! I just ordered pizza and had it delivered, because Jarad always sends me flowers on my birthday and I knew he didn't want flowers so I "sent" lunch instead :) - I heard the cupcakes were very much enjoyed, so good work!!
Love, Me

Oh Vic--you are just the best friend! It was great to have someone who KNOWS my family takes pictures:) I hope you don't get a cold from standing out in the cold so long taking pictures of us all! Next photo session for Michelle needs to be with you and me in NYC!! Can you imagine the two of us there....walking top speed down the city streets talking NON-STOP! Thanks again! I STILL miss not seeing you everyday. You were an unbelievably awesome paraprofessional! But you are also awesome at what you do. Still miss the wonderful lunches you made and brought for me...homemade chicken salad. I was so spoiled:) Forever Friends, Julie Higgins

Fun post, Vicki! I decorated today, too, although I'm not quite finished. The card for your brother in law is beautiful (and masculine, which is often hard to handmake!). I adore everything you make with the artist stamp set, but I am a huge messer so I avoid stamping. Yea, I know. :(
I LOVE the idea of putting your shiny brite bulbs up on your everyday looks fab!! And talk about your sister's food presentation! Ha, look at your cupcakes!! Those are to die for!! And finally I want to say thank you for being one of those rare, treasured KIND people in the world....the fact you think about and appreciate your postal people with goodies is just so very sweet. :)
Have a blessed day!
