Fun Filled Day and a GIVEAWAY

I have to share yesterdays fun with you.  It was such a nice, nice day.  The Art Group met at my sis's house yesterday ... and it was glorious!   She had everything set up SO beautifully!  It was a total TREAT!
You've been warned..this is a "photo heavy" post for sure! lol
Not only is my sis a sweetheart..but as you can see.. she has an eye for decorating.  She has everything in her home done up so pretty. It's homey and welcoming.........  just makes you never want to leave.

I just had to share this day, because it was so fun.  Wish you could have all been there to share the fun. ( not sure there would have been enough room ..but still) lol
She always had darling little vignettes, with cutest things.

lots of eye candy.

Oh.. and did a mention..she's an amazing cook?  geeezzz
I don't know how we ever managed to go to dinner later in the day.

Holy Moly.. that Key Lime Pie..was DELISH!!

With all the eating, believe it or not, we found time to work on some "Crafty" things :)

We did a couple of things.   we did canvas's ..... ( this one is what Paula created)....

and we also make some fun cake plates.   Jan had been collecting inexpensive but beautiful vintage  plates, and then got glass candle holders at the $ store. We used E600 bonding glue and created these.  I didn't get photos of all of them before they were packed away for safe travel home, and I wish I had so I could show you. darn!. Each one was different.  This is mine and Debs.. and they are very similar.   But you can use any glass pieces, plates, cups, candle sticks, bowls, tea cups ect...   It's a simple , and fun project.  You have something gorgeous and fun to use when your finished.  Love em!

And here is the thing about my sis.... she has quite a sense of humor. She couldn't let April Fools Day pass with out  leaving some rubber vomit in the sink of her beautiful bathroom. lol

I had asked my friend Deb some time ago if she would like to come to "First Fridays" with me. This was the perfect time, since we were already in Lincoln.  The other girls had to head home, but Deb stayed to go to dinner and First Fridays with us. ( it was nice for me .. also , having someone to ride home with me late last night) Sure makes the drive go fast when you have something to visit with. yay!

Brent, Nathaniel, Keith, me, Jan, Diana and Deb after dinner , heading over to Wes's studio.
(below)  Wes and Amy had other Artists showing their work in their studios this week.  Lots of interesting things to look at!
This was a wasp... printed on a transparent paper of some sort .  Two different images, one on top of another, but with some distance between..so you can just slightly see the other one behind. Really interesting concept!

Wow!

I cant even believe I'm posting this photo, as wind whipped and terrible as my hair looks..but oh well... it's me and my sonny boy ( Weston).

Great night!

APRIL FOOLS FUN

Okay, before you think I'm totally crazy .. if you look at the photo below.. let me explain.
I posted this link , on my last post, and pondered the idea of doing something similar to "April Fools" Dan when he got up for work at 5am yesterday.
We'll here's what I did instead.

I made this dummy .. laying on the couch! lol   I used some old jeans, old shoes, a hoody, stuffed with towels, pillows ect.  Covered it partially with a thow that was keep in the livingroom.  I put a dish out with a fork ect... and dug two beer cans out of the recycling bin to toss around. ( No .. I swear I wasn't drinking them) lol  ( note the one on the back of the couch) lol

looks pretty reall huh?       I forced myself to get up at 5am, when Dan did, just so I could see his reaction.  Well, he met me in the upstairs hall, and said "Wes is sleeping on the couch".  (Seriously .. really?  does he often see Wes sleeping on the couch in a hoodie and all his clothes with beer cans tossed around????) geeezzz.. not hardly. He might come home on a weekend, Might fall asleep on the couch ...but ?? come on... lol
I said, "what are you talking about ..Wes is in Lincoln".  Dan says.. "Well, somebody is  sleeping on the couch".  I tried to act worked up and said.. "Well Go look".     He said, "I'm going to let the dogs out, I'll see if his car is in the driveway".   Well , I gave him a minute and then I w ent outside too.  He looked at me and said .."ha ha.. it's a dummy".   I'm pretty sure he went over to it and checked while I was still upstairs, but he'll never admit it.
**************
BUT.. I did have one other chance to use my "couch dummy" yesterday... when Gabby was supposed to come over to let the dogs out , while I was gone.
I kept her on the phone.. so if she got really freaked out I could tell her right away. I and asked her if she would run upstairs and make sure I unplugged my curling iron, because otherwise I figured she wouldn't go all the way into the living room, she would just let the dogs out from the back room.
I could tell immediately when she saw it because she said in a really soft voice... "hey Vic, is there any way Dan would have had the day off today?".  I said.. "no why", and she said... "well , there's someone asleep on the couch".  I said.. " We'll, it's NOT Dan, so who is it... can you see"?  She said "ummm.. I don't really want to. They have a hoodie over their head, and I'm a little freaked out".    About that time, I had the girls all yell, "April Fools" to her over the phone.   Lucky for me Gabby is a good sport! We got a good laugh~!
Again.... I have to wonder... Like Dan thought it was Wes,... did Gabby really think Dan would throw beer cans all over the place and fall asleep in the couch in the middle of the day, with a hood over his head. HAHAHAHAH......  I love it!  I think your brain just  tries  so hard to make sense of something  like that when you see it and aren't expecting it.
 Fun times! tee hee

What a nice nice day!

I think I am getting Alzeimers! Julie

What a wonderful looking craft day!!
Love the April Fools guy on the couch - when we were stationed in Germany, we had friends in Belgium. Well their Belgium neighbors didn't know much about 'American" Halloween and our friends had been trying to explain it to them.....so Halloween night we made up this dummy and put it under the neighbors car like it got run over, ketchup and everything. It got waaay more reaction than we figured on - people walking by late that night (teens and 20ish year olds coming back from partys)a couple of the girls screamed - then they would call thier friends and 'set' them up to see their reactions, and then called their Moms in the morning and 'set' them up (thankfully in daylight) - they had cars driving by constantly to look and they left it there for about a week - they thought it was 'the best thing ever'.... we sat at the windows laughing soo hard all night.....crazy....

LOVE the art work, especially the shadowbox and cards! I got a good laugh at the 'dummy' and gave me a nice reminder of my Father!
