Fancy Pants Altered Frame .. Beach Babe

I'm excited because I can finally start sharing some of the new things I've been working on. It's been fun working with all these new goodies for CHA release..but not being able to share for so long is really hard. lol
Finally it's time and everyone is past sneak peeks and able to share... yay!
Fancy Pants has some awesome new things being released, and I have lots to share... so let the fun begin.
You can see all the lines on the Miss Fancy Pants Blog.. along with amazing creations from the DT using them.     Below is a Dollar Store frame I altered with the new  "Beach Babe" line.

And that Sweetest Beach Babe in the photo... is Miss Rylee.  Ohhh... could see be any more of a doll!

I think these new matching chipboard pieces are so cool.  I did part of the creating under the glass and some on the outside of the glass, and I really liked the dimension it gave it.    I am just SO into altering Dollar store frames!!  I cant believe the variety there are to choose from and it seems that every Dollar store chain has lots of different styles. So many that work well for altering.  I just bought 4 more different ones yesterday :)

How about these bright, happy colors and patterns.  Just what I'm needing about now...... End of January in Nebraska. ugggghhh

Yep... it's a long cold snowy winter..but I'm so thankful that we have had much more sunshine than we did last winter.  It's amazing how much better the day seems when the sun is shining .. even if it is COLD outside. Even temperature wise it's been warmer here the past few days... so no complaining here!

Okay... short post today, Dans off and I'm hoping to get some things done around here.  Hope all of you have a fantastic weekend!

Happy Friday!!!

More "Farm" themed fun

Another day of farming!   While we were talking about NEW "farm" themed goodies I wanted to share a new layout I finished the other day.  There are tons of great samples posted on the Heartwarming Vintage blog, done by the ever so talented Crafty Secrets Design Team that you wont want to miss.. so be sure to pop over and check them out.

Wish I knew more about that darling little girl in the photo. It's a photo of Sandys..but I just had to use it for these new "farm" images and stamps. Thanks Sandy!

I also used  the chicken wire stamp and the checker board stamp from the new stamp set below.

Here are the ..... **NEW**  Farm Fresh Scraps

It's  funny that the last few days I've been working with "farming" things, and also just happened to have been scanning some photos of moms to put them on discs.  This photo below just cracked me up!
My grandparents.

Everytime I look at photos of my grandparents and great-grandparents and thier lives as farmers, I cant help but think about the long days and hard work.  I cant imagine getting up everyday.. to work the fields, feed the animals, gather eggs, bake bread, sew your kids clothes, cook, clean... and all that with no airconditioning, microwaves, washers and dryers, ect... Oh.. man, I would have never make it.
We ordered pizza for dinner tonight. lol

One day when I was chatting with mom about life back in those days, She said, "you know .. everything was harder back then...but still we call it The good old days". "Things were harder, but it was just simpler times, less hectic, people werent in such a hurry".

Below is my Great Granparents farm.

The photo below is not one that I just ran accross. Ive had this for some time, and it's one of my very favorites.  I've scrapped it a number of times.   It's a photo of my cousin Craig and I, holding baby kittens on the front porch of my Grandparents farm house.  He and I were bestest buddies ... awwww

I wasnt raised on a farm but I have so many fond memories of trips to South Dakota to visit my Grandparents and Aunts and Uncles. I have so many great memories of each place. I was just thinking the other day about how I loved to gather eggs with my Aunt Pauline.  How she let me ring the big bell out in the yard to call the guys in from the field for lunch. And how she tried to show me how to milk a cow. ( I never did get the hang of that)...but I always thought it was funny when she squirted the milk accross the barn into the cats mouth. :)  Oh.. the things kids remember.

Looking through these photos and trying to figure out the who's , when's and where's of them , just reinforces to me the importance of documenting "everyday life" with photos ( and.. with journaling).  I'm pretty good with the "Photo" part of it all..but I am really going to try to do better with documenting the people, places, dates ect.. of the photos that I dont scrapbook also.  I have alot of scrapbooked pages! (alot!)..but I vow to do better with organizing and writing on the backs of all my photos.  It's always to sad to see photos that no one knows about. You look at the pictures and wonder what their story is.
I have so many photo boxes filled with photos, pulling them all out and writing on the backs of all of them , is just toooo overwelming.... so I'm atleast grouping them into marked envelopes to start.  I had done some a couple of years ago, and it came in so handy when the boys took their trip to the Black Hills and wanted to look at the places we used to go.  I had the envelopes marked and organized!  Now.. if I can just do that with all of them.  I guess this is a little note to you new moms. You will probably take alot of pictures over the next years.. first steps, birthdays, dances, ect...... start now and keep them organized.  It will save you down the road!
but most of all.....
**Take photos.. preserve memories**

In nothing are we as rich as in our memories; they are pictures painted by our hearts, and nothing can erase them.

Wow.. it's a day to celebrate! Why? Well, I just mailed off the last of my CHA projects!  It's been a busy few weeks so it feels good to have that all wrapped up.  Like I said this is the first CHA in years I haven't attended..but I'm so glad that I made that decision..because staying home and relaxing is sounding pretty darn good about now. lol
Another reason to celebrate?? sure why not.  It's time for Crafty Secrets to show another exiting new product.   Check out the Heartwarming Vintage blog today to see!!  ( if it's not up yet.. it will be in just a bit)
I'll tell you this much .. they are "farm" themed and they are SO CUTE!!
Below is a card I created with the new farm themed Creative Scraps.  You'll be able to see them all on the Heartwarming Vintage Blog.   Oh... I am just smittened with them.
How funny is this??

I dig farm boys! lol

The minute I saw this ... I knew what stamp set I needed to pull out. The Gardening set... because I needed to add that little "digger".  (I'm sure they have a specific name assigned to them..but .. any way you look at it ..it's a "digger" right?) lol
 trowel??

Anyway.. these new images are so fun! You'll be seeing me use them alot,... I'm sure!

*****************************************************

Well, seems it has to show here about every other day lately..........so..........
Dans been doing alot of this.
( atleast the sun is shinning today!)

I was out today to mail the last of my projects and do a couple of things..but actually it wasn't bad.  A balmy 30 degrees. That's a heatwave around here!
I have to show you I found a perfect place for the flower I made in my last post.  Looks pretty on this pillow huh?   I found this chair YEARS ago on a garage sale for $15.  It was a "not so pretty green", but I used it for quite awhile.  My sis and I share things back and forth, which is really nice.  That way when we switch things back and forth.. things always seem new. lol   My sis had been using this chair for a while, and brought it back the other day,  Boy ..did I win out..because she recovered it beautifully. So now not only is it like new..but   now... it works perfectly in by bedroom.  yay!  I love my sis!

I'll be back tomorrow with a little something else to share..but for now... I feel a nap coming on. lol

Enjoy your evening!

Stamping on muslin flower tutorial

Hey everyone!  Crafty Secrets is full swing into sharing all of their new products... so be sure to check out all of the fun stuff they are sharing over on the Heartwarming Vintage blog.
A while back I shared a little tutorial on making pretty stamped flowers using vellum and fabric that were stamped on using the "Artsy Banners" set. HERE   Today I'm going to share a flower pin I created by stamping on muslin with the "Art Blooms" set of Clear Art Stamps from Crafty Secrets.  There are some beautiful samples over on the Heartwarming Vintage blog created by our Design Team girls..that you wont want miss. HERE This set is gorgeous ..and perfect for building with.  HERE is another card I created with this set that I posted the other day also.

Here is the "Art Blooms" Clear Art Stamp Set.

For this flower pin... I didn't even cut my pieces into flower shapes.. I just cut circles.  You can decided what size you want your flower to be. ( how big your muslin circle is, the number of layers you add,  and how much you gather your pieces will determine the actual size of your finished flower pin
( I stamped 6 muslin circles, each approx 6 inches across)
I stamped randomly all over each piece, using a different stamp on each one.

As you can see on the muslin circle below.. I just stamped the pattern around the edge.  I just did this on a couple of them.  (Totally up to you what you choose to do).
After I had finished my stamping (using a quick dry ink to avoid any bleeding), I misted all of the pieces with "chalk Glimmer Mist". ( Strawberry Shortcake).  You could use any glimmer mist..but I would suggest using one with enough color..that you don't have to "saturate" your fabric. This helps you avoid the chance of your ink bleeding ..and also... saves you having to wait for  drying time. (That way..you can keep creating :)

This is where you just do a simple running stitch in a circle ....

and then .. cinch it up , to gather your piece.

Now you just gather, repeat, adding the layers together. (gathering each piece a little tighter as you go, so that the layers become some smaller ... creating the look of the flower)

You can make your flower as full as you like..by adding more layers, or gathering more.  I added a bit of lace to the back of mine..and then attached a pin back so that it can be worn on a sweater or jacket.

Of  course  there are many dies out now that can help you create  these flowers...but this is can be done by just tracing around something round ( something you can just find around the house).  You can add, tulle, vellum, paper, lace, fabric, .. whatever.  Tons of different variations.

Happy Flower Making!

*************************************************************

Okay... as I said ..there are lot of fun reveals and projects posted over on the Heartwarming Vintage blog..
One of the New Releases is " Alice in Wonderland" themed Stamps and Creative Scraps..that are DARLING.  ( you can see the stamps and images on the blog)

Fun huh?  And aren't those little girls darling.  They their mommy is a friend of Crafty Secrets graphic designer Cindy. (thanks to her for letting me us them)

This flower is from Creative Impressions. * love*

Here is what I did to put this layout together.   I started with this white cardstock cut with Accucut die Ribbon Circle.
I then randomly stamped the little tea pots and tea cups with blue and read ink to create a patterned background.

I love the open scallop ..but I felt that I really needed to add some blue to the outside edge of my layout, so I punched out 1 inch circles and added them to the backside to fill in the open space with blue.

To create the teacup in the title, I stamped the teacup onto red and blue cardstock with black ink. Adding the word "with" to the front of the red cup.  I then cut the stripe and the saucer from the blue cup and added it to the red.

I was having fun with these fun new Alice goodies and these adorable photos.. so here's another project.
This is a little sectioned box from Maya Road.

Don't you wish you could have been at their tea party?? They look like they are having so much fun.

It's been great fun... playing with all this "girly" stuff.
I didn't have many tea parties.. raising two boys! lol

Hope you enjoyed the new fun!
Now put on a fancy hat, and have a cup of tea :)
