Fun little Christmas boxes

Hello friends!
Boy Crafty Secrets has been busy with all kinds of new printable and digital goodies.  One of them is these cute box templates.
You can use the boxes as table favors, ornaments, mini gift boxes and stocking stuffers.  Add ribbon to hang them and decorate a tree, wreath or centerpiece. The file is 300 dpi and can be enlarged to print on 2 pages to create a larger box, or you can crop the images to use them on a variety of holiday projects.  I did up a few so you could see them used a few different ways.    Below this first photo is what the templates look like when they are printed off.  You can purchase the download here ....   Be a Crafty Vintage Girl

They each come with a little matching gift tag.

I used stickles on some and glittery snow on others.

The images are gorgeous.

Like I said Crafty Secrets have been busy little beavers.  Pop over to the Heartwarming Vintage blog to see all the new things they have available.

Whats up at our house?  Well, guess who had her first taste of ice cream?  She liked it :)

Today was Dans day off, so he started working on his new little project.  We talked about it and decided we would just put up a little temporary fence out back for a few months until little miss pup learns her boundaries a bit better.  We hate having to put her on a leash all the time, but she is  still learning just how far she can go.  Leaving in the country... there just aren't any boundaries in her eyes. lol  She actually does great if we are out with her, but she could be out for longer times and more often if we didn't have to be standing right there.   Especially at night, I worry about other animals too.  So ... on with a fence for now.

I have to get busy on some upcoming projects that have been sitting on my desk... so here's hoping for the crafting mojo to pay me a visit :)
I saw this on pinterest the other day and it tickled me.

So ...on with things. lol

I hope all of you who are dealing with the wrath of hurricane Sandy are staying safe.
Keeping you in my prayers.

"Inspiration from the Everyday" Fancy Pants Designs

 "Inspiration from the Everyday"
Where do you find your inspiration?  It's everywhere, all you have to do it look at things a bit differently.  I LOVE being challenged to find inspiration in everyday things and apply them to a card or layout.  I used to be participate in an inspiration blog when it was still up and running and I loved it!  I've  thought so many times it would be fun to get something like that going again.
Every month the Fancy Pants Design Team is assigned different things for the Miss Fancy Pants blog. It might be Product Spotlight, Fancy This, Sketch Time.. ect. Well the newest addition is "Inspiration from the Everyday"....... and you guessed it.... Lucky me.. today is my day.  FUN!
You can see it here on the Miss Fancy Pants Blog.

I used a poster design for my inspiration (on the left)   May layout is on the right.
I used Fancy Pants "The Good Life" line for my layout

The exciting part for me is that I got to use meaningful things for both my inspiration piece and for the photo for my layout.    Both include my nieces :)
The poster I chose if from my niece Neely's band.  "Tilly and the Wall".   Neely is the one in the middle ( pink dress, blue sleeves).  Shes a busy girl, on tour again, but also has her masters in Education and is a Certified Yoga instructor.     I am so darn proud of her and of all the kids in the band. ( I call them kids. lol They are adults.  I used to think it was funny when my mom and dad called us kids when we were married with kids of our own... now I do the same thing.).     The band is now on tour promoting their newest CD, "Heavy Mood".         I'll post a video down a bit further you can watch if your interested.

I thought the design was so interesting.     Below is my layout using it for design inspiration.
The photo I used for this layout is from the Senior photos I did for my niece Lyndsay a few weeks ago. What a sweet, sweet girl!  Oh, it was so fun to get to spend the entire day with her that day.   She graduate in 2013 and head off to college, with Art as her Major.

Proud Aunt Alert! lol

Here is a short interview and new song. Yippee
I always find myself with a goofy smile on my face all the way thru this.  I LOVE hearing her sweet voice.  GO TILLYS!!

Thanks for stopping by!
Happy Friday!!!     Hope you had a great week and are looking forward to your weekend!

Take a Hike layout and engagement photos

Lately I've been going back thru my photo files and making a folder of photos that I really want to scrap.  Photos that for some reason or another are just extra special to me.  It's not always that they are the best quality or perfect shot, as a matter of fact some might even wonder "why that photo?".  I cant really explain why some photos call to me, I guess it's just that they seem to really capture the moment.. or like this one.. just seem "SO Wes".   He loves Molly dog, and she LOVES him.
They were hiking the hill by the cabin.

I have a step by step of this layout here on the Crafty Power Blog  Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L.

I love it when I can use favorite products together.  I've also shared this layout on the Tattered Angels Blog along with the wooden doily project below the layout.

I painted  these die cut wood pieces with Tattered Angels Chalkboard paints (in fall colors), and hung them from my dinning room light.  I'm really enjoying them :)

I was at Micheal's today and saw so many cute wooden Holiday shapes that would be fun.  I picked up some snowflakes:)

Okay.. now I get to share some fun photos :)  These are just a few of  Jarad and Kates engagement photos.  My brother-in-law is an amazing photographer. He did such a great job!
It was so great to have him doing the photos because I think he really captured the kids better than anyone could.. knowing them so well.  This is totally THEM!  So natural.

The photo were taken out by our cabins.
This one was taken on the road right in front of our cabin.   I am so impressed that Keith got these photos of the dogs looking at the camera, because trust me.. they were pretty excited and not exactly in the mood for sitting still for photos. lol

I just smile when I look at these photos because they are just so perfectly "Jarad and Kate" :)

and I have to admit, they even make me a little teary.  ( happy teary)

Thanks for letting me share bits of my life here.
Feels good to have happy things to share.

More Halloween fun

Hey Everyone!
Last week was a fun week.  A busy one too.  I have photos to show you of a fun shop my sis and I went to while I was in Lincoln the other day, but first of all I'm going to show you some projects from the "archives".   Crafty Secrets has the most awesome Halloween images.   Now you can see them all and easily order them here at "Crafty Vintage Girl".
There are just a few ideas.

These images have always been some of my very favorites to work with.

Thursday night I was in Lincoln ( a little belated birthday celebration),  and we all went on "Ghost Tours of Lincoln" and it was really fun and interesting.   I didnt take photos because it was just too dark... but it was a fun night.

We did take in some goodies at our favorite place before hand.  Mazatlan II
I LOVE this place!

It was SO windy here Thursday night that there was actually semi trucks being blown off the road.  It was ridiculous.  That mixed with the rain, helped convince me not to drive home later that night.
Luckily my sis is the hostess with the mostess... and had the a bed all ready for me. SO COZY!

I thought I'd show you some photos from  a super fun shop Jan and I spent some time in  Thursday during the day while we were out and about.  The displays and goodies in this shop were fantastic.

It's called  Primitive Treasures and it's located at  852 South 27th.   You can find them on facebook at (needlinaround)

I am so in love with those fun letters in the window
The vignettes were just so fun.   We cant wait to check it out when it's all decked out for Christmas.

She told us her husband does most of the displays.  (Lets just say I don't think my husband would do that well, to say the least) lol   If you anywhere near Lincoln, its defiantly worth stopping by here.

I bought a frame that I just love while we were there and some beautiful orange coxcomb . I'll post photos when I have it all set up.

Thanks for stopping by!
I hope you are all having a great weekend!
I took a nap on the couch today.. and it was wonderful!  just say'n lol

Lots to share

Still enjoying Fall.  Yep, I am.  Seems like Fall gets pushed aside to quickly... because people start working on Christmas projects.   I have all kinds of Christmas projects on my desk right now, but I'm not wanting to let Autumn pass by without enjoying it fully.
Crafty Secrets Heartwarming Vintage now had a new Vintage Thanksgiving download.

Thanksgiving Vintage Download Kit with Digital Art Stamps, Designer Papers and Images.   You can see it all here.
Amazing bunch of goodness for $10.99      You can see more sample and read more about it here are the Heartwarming Vintage Blog.
Here are just a few samples I made with goodies from the download.

Great variety of papers, stamps and images.
I'm working on learning to color the digital stamps. I started with these wheat images.. something simple.  I cant wait to learn more about how to do it, but I will say I can see myself really enjoying it.  It's amazing how you can blend colors.  ( don't look to close tho... remember I'm still learning) lol

There is even place cards , menu cards ect... in this download.

On the menu above I used the front of the card and in the one below I put the menu inside the card using one of the frames from the download.

I'm excited to work with this download more. AND excited to see what Crafty Secrets has coming up for Christmas downloads.  I know, I know.. still fall, but this girl needs time to work ahead.  Every year I think I'm going to make all my Christmas cards... hmmm... still hasn't happened :(

This is probably one of the reasons why. I keep playing hooky. lol    Yesterday and the day before where Dans Days off since he worked the weekend.  He and Molly decided to take in the nice weather and spend the day/night at the cabin.   He called yesterday and said. "Why don't you and Daisy come out this afternoon, it's so nice!"    Well, I had plenty I could, and probably should have been doing ,but I pushed it aside and off we went.   There was a time not that long ago that I would have stayed home and worked, but I'm working hard to think differently about things like that.   Life is too short..............enjoy!     Before we know it, it will be winter and then I'll wish I could be outside!      Glad I went.  It was a gorgeous day, and who knows how many of those we have left before it's blustery cold.

Yep... it's my husband happy place.  He didn't know I was taking this photo :)    It says so much about him.   Not only has he always loved the outdoors and being at the river, but he (unlike me) likes quiet and time alone without people everywhere.   Oh.. I like quiet also, and time alone, don't get me wrong, but I am way more socially oriented.  I need to socialize and be with people alot.   After 31 years we have found a way to make this work for us.  He has a cabin... I go do stuff. lol  No really, we find a happy medium ... a little of both.

I went to the cabin a lot more than I do now, when the boys where growing up.  We all spent a lot of time there.  (It was only about 15minutes from our house in town).   Once the boys where grown and we moved to the country, I guess I was content there ( at home), and in the country already so I didn't go to the cabin as often.   It's been a great place for our family to spend time over the years tho. I'm excited for Jarad and Kate to get their cabin finished and have fun making great memories there also.

Jarad and Kate weren't out there, because they were at work yesterday, but I took a picture of the progress they have now made on the back of their cabin.  They are busy little beavers!

Snapped a couple more shots before I left. We took the dogs for a walkabout :)

Partners in crime.

I  hope your week has been a good one.

Thanks for taking time to stop  by :)

October "Whatevers"

It's "Whatevers" time!  Here we are October! Bring it!
I decided to do something other and a page on water color paper, which is what I have done with all the others.    In my art group a while back we started creating these altered books.  I thought it would be fun to create in it, using this months photo.

Here is my story

Jack might have been a small man, but he had big dreams.  Every day he woke early to prepare for his day at work.  He took his job very seriously, much more so than the "knuck heads" he worked with.  Especially Albert who was his assigned side kick on the street car.  In Jacks eyes Albert was a nice enough guy, always smiling and jovial with the passengers, but just lacked structure and discipline to do the job (at least to Jacks standards).  Jack may be a street car engineer, but since he was a young boy, he dreamed of riding the rails as a Train Engineer.  A big locomotive. Traveling, seeing the country from the engine room of a big black iron beast.   As the years passed, he knew this would probably not be in the cards for him, but he still dreamed about it often.   He knew Albert and the others thought he was a grouchy old man who took his job way too seriously.  Little did they know, that he had dreams too.
This was not the job Jack had dreamt of  all this life, but he enjoyed it and  he would still be the best at it that he could be at it!

Here's what the book looks like.   I plan to keep adding pages to it.  Just a place to be creative.

Now , be sure to pop over and check out what Nat and Cat have come up with this month
