12 x 12 "Owl" canvases

Still sharing some of my by projects from the Fall Open House.  These look so small in these photos.. but they are actually 12x12 canvases.   I spent a little time drawing out a simple owl pattern that I could change up as I wanted... then broke out the canvases.
This one is a natural colored canvas that I just misted around the edges with harvest orange Glimmer Mist.

This one I did on a denim 12 x 12 canvas in bright colors and patterns I thought might be fun for a babies or girls room.  I was excited because the mommy who bought it was going to use it for just that... a baby's nursery.
You can see the background much better in the photo below.
Only half way crafty thing I've gotten done this week, is that I finally found the material that I liked, so I broke out the staple gun and covered the top of this piano bench to sit in the hall.   When we moved things around after we got the new furniture this Summer.. there was a blank space against this spot in the hallway.  I couldn't stand it, but didn't really know what to put there. I didn't want anything that would stick out in the hall way to much.  I know me.. and I'd be banging my shin on it a 100 times a day. lol    Cheap fix for now... this piano bench will work, until I find what I want.
Everyday Photos this week
Everyday Photo 1
A reminder why I love living in the country.  Taken at the corner of our lot looking North East.

Everyday Photo 2
I love baking... especially in the Fall.  This week, I had some apples to use up.   Oh.. the smell in here, was the BEST!
Everyday Photo 3
Ummm.... think this dog is spoiled much?   I love that Daisy lets me snuggle her, because Molly is not a snuggler at all.  If you even sit a bit to close to her, she'll get up and move.   Daisy would sleep like this all night if I let her.    They way we spoil our dogs, can you even imagine what we'd be like if we ever had grand kids. lol
I hope your all doing well, and enjoying Fall.  It's a beautiful day out today, but it sounds like the weather might start being icky this week, so I better get out and enjoy it now.
Huge thanks, as always... for stopping by!

Mini "Home" Shadowboxes

I'm happy to say ..the parts came in and my computer is up and running again!  It's hard to believe not that many years ago we survived just fine without computers in our lives, now, when mine goes down, it rocks my world.  hmm... not sure how I feel about that.
Anyway it feels good to be back on my computer where I can get to my files.  Today I thought I'd share a couple of little wood shadowbox makeovers I recently did. These shadowboxes originally had a chicken image in them. I picked them up cheap, just for the purpose of altering them.  I finally pulled them out of the "to alter" box the other day.  Super simple.. but I really like how they turned out.

I like how just a few simple little elements can make such a statement.  They would make a fun housewarming gift, I think. But you could put any word inside them of course.

Any word, photo or little bit of ephemera or memorabilia.  I remember picking these up at a Dollar Store..but they were $3.   They are sturdy wood and pretty heavy. I got the back's off and back on, without much effort.  I'm going to look for more. They would make nice little gifts.  I think Valentine themed ones with the word LOVE would be cute.

You can see how deep they are in the photo below. If I run across some more this week, I'll post where I found them for sure :)

Oh.. thought I'd share this too.  You know me and my hanging  canning jars with tea lights.  I just cant stop. I need to make them for every season. lol  I sold some of these Fall ones at the Fall open house last week.  I  guess it's time to start thinking about making some Christmas ones again.  You haven't seen the end of them yet. lol

I always love to share photos here, and it seems I've fallen behind on that with my computer problems, so I'm going to play catch up and  share a couple of different fun photo shoots I've done recently.
The first one is some engagement photos for friends, Lindsay and Chase. Boy they were troopers, considering it was CHILLY out that day! brrr

Sweetest couple.

Wishing them on the best. Wedding is next June.

Oh and I have to share a couple of this adorable little buddy of mine.  My friend Gabby and her husband Tracy's  little guy, Emmett, on his 1st Birthday!     I'm lucky that Emmett and Wyatt's Grandparents are good about sharing, and let me play Gramma with them also.   Wyatt is in First grade now, but you have probably seen him in a number of my layouts also. I love both the Schwanebeck boys.

I don't know why I love the photo below so much... but I just do.   Mommy and I were both snapping photos like crazy.. and he was getting to the point that he had just about had it with us. lol

But ...later.....   I little bath is Vicki's old wash tub to wash off the frosting...and he was as happy as could be again.

Is he a cutie or what?

Before I close... I want to tell you about a huge giveaway Sandy has up , over on the Heartwarming Vintage Blog..... so be sure to pop over and leave a comment to get your name in to win  HERE

Huge thanks for hanging in with me while I got through my computer troubles.  Your the best!

Thanks for coming by!!

Fall Open House

Hello Everyone!  Well, it seems until the repairs are done, I'm working from my lap top.  The nasty lightening storm we had the other night was not nice to my computer!  I guess I should just be thankful the damage wasnt worse.  Hopfully next week my computer will be back to normal.
I thought I'd share some photos from the past days at the Fall Open House here in town at "Floral Creations".  It's a darling floral shop that is also filled with tons of craft and home decor things.  Lynda Cerny the owner was kind enough to ask me if I wasnted to join, and bring some things to sell at her Fall Open House and to do some fun make and takes.   It was a great time.  Here's a few photos of the shop.

Oh... first, here as another project I did using the "Creating with Vintage Halloween CD", from Crafty Secrets.

130 West 7th street North Bend NE  "Floral Creations"

We had such fun setting up for the event.

We served Pumpkin muffins and hot cider, and it was perfect Fall weather for that.

Doesnt she have a darling set up for her shop?

Like I said, I did make and takes.  We made Halloween pinwheels.  These ladies were a hoot!  Just one of the fun groups that did the make and takes on Thursday night, during Moonlight Madness.

I'm  excited to say, a Holiday Open House is going to be next up!  Actually it will be time before we know it, so I better get busy crafting with  "Christmas" in mind.

Thanks so much for letting me share a bit of my past few days with you.  It was alot of fun.
]Thanks for stopping by!

Whatevers TWO "October"

My appoligizes for posting late today. Yesterdays lightening storm took out our internet.

Well sometimes it's fun to just step out of your norm and do something really different.... have fun and just enjoy the process. And that is exactly what I did this month for my October "Whatevers" page.   A pencil, watercolors and a marker here and there.  It's amazing how relaxing it can be when you have no specific plan, and are just having fun :)

*If your not familiar with "Whatevers" you can read more about it and how you can play along with us below in this post.

My Story:
Maybe it's not about the happy endings, Maybe it's about the story
When Emma was a young girl   her parents would often take weekend trips to  go to visit her Grandparents.  They lived in a small town just about an hour away. Down the road from them lived a little boy named Simon.  Simon and Emma always looked forward to the weekends, and their time together. Simons parents where also friends of Emma's  family, so while the grown ups played cards, and drank what seemed to Emma and Simon to be endless amounts of coffee, the children entertained themselves with hours of pretend play.  They would drape a blanket over Emma's grandmothers clothesline and pretend it was a tent, and that they were camping deep in the jungle. Sometimes they would mix water, grass and mud, in an old can they found in the back yard, and pretend it was a magic potion.  No matter what they did, they had fun. They were the best of friends. They would pretend they were getting married, and learned Grandma was not happy when they picked too many of her pretty flowers for their wedding ceremony. They had a house under the picnic table. Simon would pretend to take his lunch box and go to work, while Emma, made a mud pie.  Years passed, and as they grew older, more and more they went their own way, and became busy with their own lives. But they always stayed good friends and kept in touch. Always knowing they had a special friendship. Someone they could always count on. Years and years of memories to reminisce about when they would get together for visits years after they had families of their own.
If you would like to play along with us... we'd love it. Here is this Months photo for you to use.
Be sure to check out that the Whatevers Girls did this Month!!
Here is how it works
  • Nat, Cat, Cuchy (Carmen), Martha and I  have made a one-year commitment to each other and picked twelve photos with Whatevers whom we will give a story.
  • Every month – if possible always on the 15th –  each of us will do a post with an individual story that goes along for us with the same photo.
  • If you want you can play along and we will have the photo for you to download and show us your version of The Whatevers. The photo will be posted at the end of our blogposts- not on Facebook!
  • There is no rules to the story itself- it can be funny, sad, uplifting, breathtaking- WHATEVER
  • There is no rules on the length or the form of the story- it can be a short sentence, an essay, a poem or a soap opera – WHATEVER
  • There is no rules on the artform you choose – it can be a scrapbook layout, an altered art project, an artjournal page – WHATEVER
  • Here is a rule though: if you take the photo you have to link back to us and show us your story.
  • These pictures are from our personal stash and are for personal use for you only! If you want to use them for a publication whether a book or magazine in print or digital form please ask for permission!
  • If you want to participate we’ll have a linky list for each Whatever Post.
  • You can also join our The Whatevers -Facebook Page

"Happy Autumn" Fabric and Paper stitched canvas

Wow, the weeks are seeming to just fly by.  I've been busy trying to get some things done for an upcoming Fall Boutique at a Local Floral Shop here in town.   Cutting, Painting , stitching....   I love it, but boy does the time fly!
Today I thought I'd share one of the canvases I just finished.  It's a little combo of fabric and paper ( oh.. scrabble tiles, buttons and stitching also of course).  I always love projects with lots of different textures and elements that just make you feel you "HAVE" to touch them!

I don't think there is anything more relaxing for me to do at home, than sit and stitch, simple stitching while I'm watching TV. I love it.  The Canvas is wrapped in fabric, an then the flower pieces are cut from paper and stitched on.

ahhh.. the glory of simple stitching.  Easy peasy!
The trees are starting to turn an the colors of Fall are showing themselves more each day.  I love mums and this year the mum just seem to be extra beautiful!  I'm enjoying them so much!

The days have been so nice. We had a couple that were really cool, but now... beautiful Fall days are back!   I hope this lasts a while :)

I'm working on having mums along both sides of the East and West side of the house, so hoping to get that filled in soon.  Mums remind me of my mom.... as do iris's , violets, and peonies.   Always growing around her house.

Time for me to get back to me projects.  I'll be back to share more soon.
I'm hoping you are having a day! Thanks for stopping by, I'm always glad you do :)

Crafty Secrets October Linky Party

Hi Everyone! Crafty Secrets Linky Party Time.  It seems like I spent most of September and October with my "Creating with Vintage Halloween CD" for some reason. I just can leave it alone ;) There are so many great papers and images on this CD, and it's so easy to use.  My projects today are all created with elements from the CD.  Your surprised right? lol

These frames I picked up at the $store.  They are 8x8.  I've had them in my "to alter" bin for quite some time, so now was the time to use them.

Some of the elements I added in Photoshop and some I cut out and added myself, like the "Happy Halloween" title on this one.  I printed it out, then colored and cut it out, matted it and then physically added it.

There are a number of great elements on the CD that are png files. ( which means you can just drag them over onto your paper where ever you want .. without bringing any background with them).  For example the black lace on the one below.

And the decorative base I have the crow standing on in the this one.  It's so easy to make changes.

I also wanted to show you how I used the papers and images on the CD to make these invitations to an upcoming  event  I'll be selling at.

Being digital,  gave me the option of what size I want them to be. I can print them out on a full size sheet , 4 on a page, to cut and hand to out friends, or to email to them.

I'm excited to see what the rest of the Crafty Secrets Design Team has to share today. Please pop over to their blogs and she what they've been up to :)
