Welcome Spring?

I keep trying to "welcome" Spring.. but it just doesn't seem to be interested in my invitation for some reason.  SNOW again this weekend.   Not a lot but off and on all weekend.  Cold and dreary still:(
It was a good weekend to stay inside once again.   Actually I kind of enjoyed being a home body.. cooking, cleaning and even watching some TV (which isn't  something I'm usually a big fan of).  But I had a big comfy throw.. and and dog on my lap.. so it was that much more enjoyable.
I also worked on stamping 160 little muslin bags to hold lavender and birdseed for the wedding. (I'll show you those in my next post).

Before I go any further, I want to share a new framed project with you. I have a little "how to" up for this project, over on the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L blog  here, if your interested.

Like I said, not a super exciting weekend around here but kind of enjoyable none the less.    I was in the mood to cook, and when I heard Jarad was down sick with a bad cold, it was a good excuse for me to make some chicken noodle soup to take in to Jarad and Kate.     Dan and I drove it in and dropped it off, but we didn't stick around. We've had our share of colds/flu this year.

So my "Everyday Photos for this weekend involve  a lot  of cooking and baking. lol

Everyday photo #1
Homemade Chicken noodle soup for Jarad

 Everyday Photo #2
TV time with a comfy throw and a dog on my lap

Like I said I'm not much of a tv watcher normally, but.....    for some reason, I started watching this   "The Killing" on Netflix    Oh man, I had no idea it was only part of an entire season that I had started watching.  DO YOU THINK I CAN STOP WATCHING????   I am on episode 18 of 24 and it's all I can do to wait to finish it. ahhhhh.   The really bad news is.. I just googled it to to be able to link to it, to find out that I'm watching  Season THREE.  Great!  That means there are two other seasons out there that I will now feel I have to watch.   I normally don't get sucked into shows that easily..but this one has me!!     I may not have any time for paper crafting at all at this rate. lol

Everyday Photo #3
Sugar Cookies

I found this new recipe and decided to bake these up now and put them in the freezer to frost later for Easter.   Here is were I found the recipe.   Vintage Revivals
They are Delicious!!!

Everyday Photo #4
Banana Nut Muffins

and since the oven was already on and I had ripe bananas..... why not make Banana nut bread?

Now that I have you hungry lol, I better distract you with something else.  How about some new fun Sewing themed goodies from Crafty Secrets??  Have you seen the sneak peeks that are up on the Heartwarming Vintage blog??

Hope you have a great start to you week!

Welcome to the new Fancy Pants Designs DT

Hey everyone!   Sorry I've been absent for a few days, but I've been a busy little beaver, catching up on some project deadlines.  Having the flu those days last week really set me back..    I haven't had a chance to talk with you much about all the fun going on over on the Miss Fancy Pants Designs Blog this month either, so I wanted to sure to do that today.
I've been lucky enough to be a part of the Fancy Pants Design Team for a number of years now, and have had the fun of watching them grow into the amazing company they are today.   I'm happy to be a part of the new 2013 DT that was just announced, and now to have the opportunity to meet and work with these talented girls.     (listed below)

All the Design Team members were asked to create a layout about themselves  to be posted along with their bios on the Miss Fancy Pants blog this month as the New design team is introduced.
Here's mine.

( I used the  "Trend Setter" Collection)

Here is the new "2013" Fancy Pants Design Team, and if you pop by the Miss Fancy Pants Blog you can see the layouts they have created about themselves.  It's so fun to see all the unique and individual styles these girls have.

Fancy Pants is going to rock 2013!!!

"Live Simply" Canvas

Hey Everyone!  Hoping your weekend was a good one and that you are refreshed and ready to start a new week.   I'm not exactly saying I'm "refreshed" lol, but defiantly ready to start the new week.  Not feeling refreshed because I spent the weekend with the stomach flu :(   Not fun!    Glad that is over for the most part. I'm usually pretty healthy..but it's been a rough few weeks around here, with colds, flu, ect . Ready for Spring!!    The last couple of days nothing got done around here,  but.. a few days before I painted this super simple canvas  because I was needing something bright and cheery to add to wall at the bottom of the steps.    You can see below where I hung it.  I just used one of the decorative digital frames from the Creating with Vintage Patterns CD to frame the photo for this post.
There are some really beautiful frames on these CD's that I just love using (even for things other than cards and layouts :)

It was quick and simple ...but boy does that splash of color please me right now when I'm so tired of the browns and grays of winter I see when I look out the window.

I had fun playing with paint , patterns and texture paste :)

This weekend I stayed in with the flu and last weekend we canceled our flea market plans because of the snow storm (so I'm not having the best luck with weekends lately. lol)              But.... I thought I'd share what I had planned to show you for that day anyway.  I'll make these again for another flea market day ( with another theme of course).
I  had made the girls little snack bags for the morning.    You know .. you have to keep your energy up for these things. lol  Serious shopping!
I used these  printable candy bar wrappers  for the bag toppers and the granola bars.

Too bad we didn't get to go.  But there will be other days.

Okay.. so for my "Everyday Photos" for the last few days.....

Well, you can figure this one out pretty easy.  Yes.. Sprite, the couch, and occasionally a little chicken noodle soup in a cup were my friends for the weekend.

Everyday Photo #2
Front page of the news paper.  (our oldest son Wes in the dark pants). Active Shooter Training day for the police dept.

Everyday Photo #3
Today I started sorting photos of Jarad and Kate for the wedding slideshow.  awwwwwww

I hope you all had a awesome St Patrick's Day!  I didn't cook our corned beef and cabbage this weekend for obvious reason....lol... but plan to this week.  It's just not right without it.  It's a tradition around here :)

As always... thanks so much for stopping by!

March "Whatevers"

Well, I have to admit as we started out this little endeavor of our call "The Whatevers", we (Catherine, Nat and I have had our share of laughs about the stores that these photos could possibly hold, and this one was no exception. lol   Oh how we'd love to know their real stories.  But sadly we don't.  But  that's what "Whatevers" is all about.... giving them a story!  Kind of honoring them in our own creative way:)      We love to have you play along with us. ( you can read more about how at the bottom of this post).

This month I did something completely different than I've done in the past months. Instead of doing a journal page, or adding a page to my book, I decided to make a canvas for my studio.

Here is Bess's story:

Bess is know to be.. shall we say a  colorful gal. She doesn't care to do a lot of the traditional things woman of her time do. She realized long ago, that just wasn't her. She wanted live differently... to be adventurous, try new things, live each day to  the fullest! She had never married, but if you asked her, she would say... oh honey... don't feel sorry for me, I've traveled many places and had many loves. She'd bat  her lashes as she said, "a lady need not share all her secrets now does she, "
She finds great humor in the fact that some of the woman in town actually believe that she doesn't hear them whispering behind her back.  She even made a point to wink and smile at Thema Herman the other day in the store when she passed by, and heard her say to Etta Jensen, "She's a few threads short of a sweater.. that Bess Camden".
Bess didn't care if she was the talk of the town, she lived her life as she pleased.. she took chances, tried new things and lived with no regrets.

Here is this months photo

I love her :)

Already found it's place on my studio wall.

Okay... here's more about "Whatevers" and how it works

  • Cat, Nat and I have made a one-year commitment to each other and picked twelve photos with Whatevers whom we will give a story.
  • Every month – if possible always on the 15th – each of us will do a post with an individual story that goes along for us with the same photo.
  • If you want you can play along and we will have the photo for you – just right click on it to safe it to download and show us your version of The Whatevers.
  • There are no rules to the story itself- it can be funny, sad, uplifting, breathtaking- WHATEVER
  • There are no rules on the length or the form of the story- it can be a short sentence, an essay, a poem or a soap opera – WHATEVER
  • There are no rules on the art form you choose – it can be a scrapbook layout, an altered art project, an art journal page – WHATEVER
  • Here is a rule though: if you take the photo you have to link back to us and show us your story.
  • These pictures are from our personal stash and are for personal use for you only! If you want to use them for a publication whether a book or magazine in print or digital form please ask for permission!
  • If you want to participate we’ll have a linky list for each Whatever Post, but your link must be about the Whatevers story you have created.
  • You can also join our  Whatevers Facebook Page
  •
    Now...
Your going to want to jump over to see what  Nat and Cat have created with this fun photo.

Easter/Spring Door decor ( made with Crafty Secrets free printable)

    Hey friends,
I wasn't sure if you all new about the awesome free printable Sandy has offered over on the Heartwarming Vintage blog right now, so I wanted to share.   You can print it however big you want to of course but just look how big you "can" print it if you want.    I printed mine on a 8.5x11 inch canvas sheet. and used this vintage tray as my base. It's kind of hard to see here, but the yellow star patterned paper for the background if from the "Creating with Vintage Patterns CD"

Link to this Easter Printable and previous Easter Printables from Crafty Secrets Heartwarming Vintage HERE

You can see here below, how cool it looks printed on canvas.    But it looks beautiful on plain cardstock also :)

Oh... I'm SO ready for Spring!

And now my front door is too. yay!

Now... scoop up a hand full of jelly beans and pop over and grab your beautiful free image.........so you can get your craft on!

    Happily Ever After

I really wanted to share with you some photos from Kate's bridal shower Sunday afternoon,( that I mentioned in my previous post).   It's such a pretty place, I think you'll really enjoy a peek inside. And those of you who have been following my blog for some time now.. probably feel like family, as much as I share.. so I want  you to share in this with me also :)
First .. as always, .. a little something with paper and scissors.  Here is the card I made to match her package/gift.

The Bridal shop where the shower was held is on Main Street in Fremont, and is called "My Blue Whimsy".

I guess because I haven't had the need for wedding supplies for .. oh.. a.. the last  32 years or so lol, I just hadn't bothered to stop in.   Had I known how beautiful it was, I would have had to go in anyway.. just to look!

The shop was closed on Sunday, and just the front set up for the Shower.   There were two tables like this set in the front room.

Which was put on by Kates sister-in-law Missy (in red) and her sister Christy (far right).  They did such a great job. It was very nice.  We had a nasty snow storm and the roads where quite bad, so some couldn't make it, but quite a few did.

    And lots of yummy eats.

Kate with the "moms".   Her mom Carol on the right and me on the left.

    Kate with her bestie Breanne.
And with her Niece Kinley (one of her flower girls)
(Below) Cake and cupcakes are from Alota Brownies (downtown Fremont)
I love that Kate wanted to Shop locally for the wedding things also.

Like I said... LOVE this place.

    One of the fitting rooms

I didn't get a photo with everyone, but here is Kate with some of her family and friends.  I'm just lucky I had my small camera in my purse, because with the concern about the weather and getting going, I forgot my good camera :(

More pretties in the front room.

Violet awoke from her nap and her daddy brought her down so she could celebrate with the rest of us. Now... both flower girl were there.  Arent they cute!  Pretty proud of their "flower girl" cardigans I would say. lol

Best of all , it was fun to see Kate.. enjoying the day so much.   She's a pretty smiley girl anyway, but she was extra smiley during the festivities.  I think she's worked so hard to prepare and plan for the wedding ... to now finally get to do some of the "fun stuff" is really exciting!

Thanks for stopping by and for letting me share.

(yesterday the bad roads caused my root canal to be postponed..but today the carpets get cleaned... so it's going to be a busy day)

    Have a happy Day!

    Sweet as Honey

Well, it's defiantly not Spring in Nebraska yet. Winter reared it's ugly head again this weekend here in the Midwest.  If there is one thing you learn living here, it's that' you have to roll with the changes in the weather, because it changes quickly.  We ended up not going to the Flea Market Saturday, so I stayed in and spent some time playing with these .... Bee's :)     Trust me, it's was a good weekend for staying in and crafting!   I did venture out this afternoon because there was no way I was missing Kate's first bridal shower.  It's only 17 miles to Fremont from here, but it sure seemed a lot further.. because the roads were terrible.   I'll share some photos down further in this post, and then tomorrow I'll post photos from the shower, so you can see the gorgeous place it was held also.
    I used Crafty Secrets....
    Digital Queen Bee Stamp set
    for these projects.
Again, like I always say, the think I love most about digital stamps is that you can have whatever size you want.   You can see how I used the same Bee image in all these pieces, and just sized it appropriately for the piece I was creating.

I also love that I can just bits and pieces from the set.    You know I'm not a big" colorer ", so I love that something as simple as water color pencils looks so nice with these.

I did this on a tile.. which I will stand on an easel.   And since I took this photo.. I've added a vintage button where the two branches meet :)

     And... a little note pad.
I wish the glitter from the glitter pen I used on the wings would have shown up better in this photo.  I printed them off a second time on lightweight paper, and then went over then with the glitter pen, before slightly attaching them at the base.
Why is it I'm always adding things later? lol  I added the little gems to the crown after I took the initial photo in this post. ( I cant help myself) haha

Be sure to pop over to the Heartwarming Vintage blog to see whats new and to check out all the great projects from the linky party:)  Thanks everyone who's playing along!

    *************************************************************

Okay, like I said, NOWAY I was missing Kate's first Bridal shower, but I'm glad I didn't have any further to go then I did.  The roads were terrible.  Actually  I thought they would be better on the way home... wrong!   I was glad to get home. But so glad I made it to the shower. It was so nice. Kate was all smiles.  I'll share photos in my next post.

I couldn't leave you with that dreadful photo, so I tried to find something I little prettier for my last photo.  Still bluster and cold..but somewhat peaceful too don't you think?

I'm supposed to head for Lincoln early tomorrow morning to the Endodontist for a root canal.. but the roads are terrible and schools are already called off sooo.??       But it sounds like such a great way to start a Monday morning doesn't it? lol

Wishing you a great start to YOUR week!
