Felt Hearts Galore

?Boy oh boy! Sorry I've been missing for a bit but my fingers have been stitching like crazy.  A while back I posted a few felt hearts that I had been hand stitching on Facebook and Intagram.  People started asking if I would make some to sell.  Well, I have made over 40 of them now.  I'm thrilled so many people  liked them.
I love hand stitching so this has been a nice change from paper crafts for a bit.

I have made a number of trips to Hobby Lobby to buy more felt and floss, let me tell you. lol I keep thinking I have enough...but

Lets just say I have spent some serious time with Netflix lately! lol    I binge watched " The Super" after I realized it was all filmed in Omaha.  I'm not usually that much of a TV watcher, but when your stitching, you can exactly read right?
Well, put it this way... I sure cant! lol

Yesterday the girls were hear for craft group. What a hoot! We laughed so much!
Jan had brought this little retro campers cookie kits ( by Wilton) for us to decorate.  They were originally Christmas but we had all the goodies to make Valentine retro campers.
I'm pretty sure non of us were going to win a blue ribbon  on our decorating skills on these... but boy did we laugh!

Julie and I switched off taking photo so we could get all of us in.

Here are a few photos from the afternoon.  We met for lunch in town before hand and then came here for crafting.  We all lived in different directions but everyone with in an hour of each other with my exception of my sis. She is about a hour and 15 minutes from here.

We met Karen when she took a class I was teaching a couple of years ago.  We just knew the she was going to end up being a great friend to all of us! This is once amazing group of ladies! I am just so blessed to have these girls in my life. Really, just blessed!

Like I said, my sis supplied all the fun stuff for making these. She is such a creative thinker! She had about any candy and/or decoration we could have wanted to decorate these.

I was trying to upload the video of this to this blog post but for some reason I wasn't having any luck.  If you follow me on Instagram (VickiChr) or Facebook (Vicki Dunn Chrisman) I have it uploaded there.  We are all laughing SO hard! Decorating these was one thing but getting them to stand upright using the two center pieces and frosting proved to be a challenge for all of us.  .... to say the least! lol

I attempted once and said forget it. I left mine laying flat. lol

But it was a great day spent with some of my very favorite people.... and I cant wait until we get together again!

I snagged this photo from Deb, as these are the hearts she purchased.   I have been stitching and had a new batch , so if anyone is interested you can email me at
The regular sized ones without the scalloped piece are $9, they are about 4.5 wide,  and the ones with the scalloped piece behind and the extra stitching are $14.
Shipping is $2.50 for 1 ( or more) Shipping is all $2.50   (US only at this time)

( hand stitched with vintage buttons)

Ok, getting my hands back to stitching now. lol Thanks so much for stopping by, AND for waiting for me between posts.

Thanks friends!

Fancy Pants Designs Valentine Heart for the door

Hello!  Well, you know what comes next.... Valentines Day!  I just had to make something new  for my front door.  It's a pretty easy project.  I picked up the wood heart shape and the wood "Happy Valentines Day" at Hobby Lobby the other day, ( really inexpensive).  I didn't really have a certain idea in mind at the time, but really if you have those things, the rest is cake right?  I just broke out some sweet Valentine papers from the Fancy Pants Designs  "Love Story" Collection.
Other than that all you need is just some, felt, wire and ribbon, Mod Podge . (oh,, and a square punch).  I used the punch to just punch out squares fromrandom papers from this collection. I used Mod Podge and added them to the heart in a patchwork sort of look.  Then I Mod Podged over it all, before adding the wood letters, felt pieces ect.

There are LOTS of videos on you  tube on how to make these easy felt roses!

I painted my letters and then added them to the heart .

Easy peasey  project and something new for the door!

So , what else have I been up to?  Well, I love taking meals to the kids every once in a while, so with it being so cold outside this week, I thought making soups sounded like a good idea.
I know the kids have such busy lives with work and all the things they are involved in, that I  know if it was me, I'd be thrilled not to have to cook when I got home from work, a night or two.
I had potatoes to use up, so.... Loaded Potato Bacon soup solved that problem.

They guys all love chili.  Dan included. I cant go wrong with that.

Bananas to use up?  No problem, Banana Nut Muffins.
I make muffins so often that I hardly have to look at the recipes anymore.
Quick, easy and freeze well.

Only one problem.   I was planning on taking food to Amy  and Wes tonight when Jan and I went to Amy's
J'Bloom Party.  (they live about a hour from here).   Well, we woke up to icy roads this morning . Schools and businesses closed. It's nasty out  Jan and I neither one are ones for taking chances when the roads are bad, so we decided it best not to go. Plan B.  Where Wes worksis about 35 minutes from here, so tomorrow I guess I will deliver food there.   Sad to miss Amy's party, but I placed my order, and I'm excited about it.  I'll share when it comes.
I love this company because it's cute stuff , and the fact that much of it can be personalized.   For Christmas I got my sis a cool necklace.  It is silver and the shape of the United States.  I personalized it with hearts in the places where their kids live.  She loved it.

Amy has decided to be a Consultant for J Bloom.    If you are interested in looking or ordering anything, here is her site.   Amy Moore JBloom online

Be for a wrap things up I also want to reply to a couple of reader comments from my last post by some my friend Jane and Rosebudlady.
By the way... I love hearing from readers, so please anytime!  You can comment or email me anytime.

Jane asked what were they doing with the straws in the family game pictures from Christmas that I shared HERE in my last post.  The game was a relay race where your had to move the M&M to the finish line by blowing with a straw.   Luckily we have a lot of people full of "hot air" lol  in our family, so it went over well.

Rosebudlady, thank you so much for your kind words.  She thanked me for the time and effort I put into blog posts, and that means a lot to me.  Blogging takes time. Typing , sizing photos ect.  And honestly from time to time I've wondered if it's work the effort.  I start to think that no one is reading or looking since Face Book and Instgram have become so popular.   Then I take a look at my traffic stats and I know people are coming, but to have someone say thank you for doing it... is, well.... SO NICE!
She also asked if I'm a night owl, because my posts are often very late at night. YES, I am.  I have always kind of been a night owl. Especially when I was traveling and teaching more, and defiantly more since Dan started working overnights.  Since we don't have any kids at home and it's just us and the dogs, it's easy to just roll with his schedule.  He work days vary back and forth every two weeks, so it's kind of crazy town around here with the hours we keep.

Ok kids, thanks for stopping by.  I hope your week is going great!

What to do with Christmas card photos? Here you go..

Wow! Where did that time go?  Sorry I have been MIA for a bit. Just taking time to enjoy time with the family over the Holidays.  Which were awesome by the way.  Busy but fun!  I'll share photos at the bottom of this post of our celebrations over Christmas but first... some creativity.
I have posted this book and what I've done with it, just after Christmas, probably for at least  the last four years.  I was so happy to finally find a way to save, and enjoy all my photo Christmas cards I receive ( once they have had there time on the fridge of course :)   We all get photo cards at Christmas right? What do you do with yours?  I used to just file mine way in a photo box, like I do all my photos.  This is a fun way to have those photos out for enjoyment all year.  This makes a great coffee table conversion book.   A great place to share your photos and your creativity.

All you need is an old book with a good sturdy binding.   Drill two holes and add rings.  (  make sure your rings are big enough to allow for adding pages).  If your like me and you like to add a lot it will be a chunky book.    You can also tear out some pages if you want to add more room.

You can do as little or as much altering to your pages as you wish.  I used sprays, stamps , stickers, papers, Washi tape,  embellishments ect.   Some pages more than other.  depending on the size of the pages in your book, the photo cards might take up a lot of the page.  If so , if you want just leave the  opposite page open for you to alter.

This is a great way to use some of your Washi tapes.
I love seeing the new additions from year to year.

Speaking of "new additions" ... this was an EXCITING card to get this year.  Because.....

I flipped it over to see this.   It was fun to see, although Ryan (my nephew) had called me a couple of weeks before to share his and Erins exciting news. ( which made this Auntie feel pretty special :)      I'm so excited for my sis Jan to get to be a grammy for the second time.

It's cards like this that have a front and back that you will want to be able to see, that are the once that I just punch holes in and do not glue down.

This is Wyatt and Emmett family  photo on their card this year.
And here is their photo in the book a few Christmas's ago.   Oh... look how they have grown!
As you can see with the pages, you can put them in "as is" or you can get more creative with it like the pages below.

I hope that inspires you to want to make a fun book with your Christmas card photos.

I will  never apologize for sharing  my family photos because they are such a huge important part of my life. "Family" is the reason I started scrapooking/memory keeping in the first place, and that is originally why I started this blog.  Now, although I share all kinds of crafty things here, once thing has not changed... Family is still most important .
I figure those of you who are here for crafty inspiration will check that out in the first part of the blog post,  and those of you who want to share in a personal/family  part of my  life can continue on right?
There, you have been warned. lol Here comes Holiday photo overload.

We started out Christmas Eve with our big get together with the Dunn family at the place we rent.  We do soups, snacks and goodies.  Oh, there is always SO much!

And of course I make sure they have to play ridiculous games. ha!   They are good sports and agree to play.  It's always good for a few laughs.

This was the decorate a Grandpa game.   It was fun having Neely and Alan here from CA, with baby Tennessee. He needed a little help from his mommy and daddy to get his Grandpa decorated, but boy did this do a great job!  I think Tennessee was like "What is going on"?  So many people .. so much crazy! lol

I laughed so hard while they were playing this game that most of the photos I tried to take were so blurry that you couldn't see what was going on.   I was a relay.  You had to put a potato between your legs and then run down to the bucket, squat down and let to drop in.  OMGOSH... so funny!

We got home late Christmas Eve, put things away, and prepared for the next day.  On Christmas day Wes and Amy both had to work that night so we had planned to have our Christmas with them and Jarad and Kate at our house on Monday.  Amy's mom was here from CA for a visit so they wanted to do a meal on Christmas Day, and they invited us. (lucky us).  Amy's mom made such a nice meal.  It was wonderful.
In their basement Wes has made one wall a TV screen. In case you were wondering about that HUGE fireplace. lol  It was on TV.  There place is so cozy and comfortable.  I hated to get back in the cold car and drive home  at the end of the day.

Monday was Christmas at our house, with Wes, Amy, Kate , Jarad, Amy's mom and us.  As a mom there is nothing I love more than having the kids all home. I love them to be laying around relaxing with really full bellies :)
It was perfect.

You can only imagine that the 4 legged loved ones in our family don't go without on Christmas either. I always want the kids to bring the dogs on Christmas, but this year they left Jep and Amy's moms dog home together (since we were with them the day before).   Jarad and Kates pups, Riley and Cloey were with us.  Cloey is getting up in years and going down hill which makes us all sad, as we love her so much. We wanted to make this Christmas special for her.  We spoiled her with attention.
As you can see from the stocking below.. there is no animal forgotten. I had a stocking for Amy's moms dog also so, 6 dog stocking and 2 cats.    Yes .. we love animals. ha
In the upper left corner of the photo below you can see what Kate and Jarad gave Daisy. lol   I think I will wait until Wyatt and Emmett come to visit next to make this.  They will think it's so fun!

This  photo just pretty much sums up how we were feeling by the time all the festivities had wound down.

Always so great to be together, eat good food and Celebrate the birth of Jesus.

and then good to

I hope it was a wonderful Christmas for all of you as well.

Hugs, Vicki
