Hello from Canada

Wow, my time here in Canada seems to be going by SO fast.  Want to see a bit of what we've been working on the past few days?  Look here in Sandy's blog post on the Heartwarming Vintage blog. Be sure to click on them to see them bigger.  There are other fun things in the works also.  Its been fun to be here and  be a part of the creative process from right here in the office where it all happens. lol
When you pop over to the Heartwarming blog out can read more about our adventures, but I'll share a few more photos.

Above is Sandy and I up on Seymour over looking Vancouver.  We did some sight seeing on Saturday. It was such a beautiful sunny day.
Below... view from North Vancouver.

This Midwest girl loves any opportunity to be near the ocean.

I very different view than I normally have.   Although I've been here many times, I always love visiting this City, it's beautiful!!

I could not pass up taking a photo of this down town Vancouver Dept. store sign when I saw it.   Its my maiden name :)

This beautiful signs of Spring are a welcome sight!

I've got a couple more days here, before I leave for home Friday.

I called home today to wish this guy a Happy Anniversary.  32 years.   Don't you just love those glasses. lol

Okay friends, thanks for stopping by.  Sending hugs from Canada!

"You are a lifesaver"

Well, I am happy to say I made it here to Canada with no problems or delays due to snow! yay! Actually the sun was out here this afternoon and it was gorgeous. Nice to see "Green".  Great to see my Canadian friends.
I wanted to share with you a card I have up on the Crafty Power blog today using Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L , and Fancy Pants Products.    I have a little "how to" posted there, with a list of the supplies I used if you are interested :)

I want to post and share while I'm here this week, but bare with me ... there will probably be more photos and less  But you know me... I love sharing photos.   A picture is worth a thousand words anyway right? :)

Last night after I got in we had some stopped in at one of Sandy and Scotts favorite places and had the most amazing Vietnamese pho noodle soup.

It was so delicious!  What a huge bowl. I had the rest of  mine for lunch today and it was just as yummy.

This has been in the tree in Sandy's back yard since the first time I came here years ago, and I've always loved it. So happy to see he's still there.

It started out rain this morning but by this afternoon the sun was out and it was so pretty.  I took this photo from the back deck just as the sun was going down.
Lots to do, and tomorrow is a new day. So.... signing off for now, but  I'll be back soon.
Thanks for stopping by.

"Pastimes" mini album

It seems like it 's been a while since I just sat down with a bunch of random stuff and and played. No specific plan in mine, on certain paper line.. just this and that.  So that's what I did (between loads of laundry ect) lol this weekend.  It's very liberating just to play with this and that...whatever strikes your fancy.   One of my very favorite things is  making little books filled with family photos.

I love the fact that they can always be a work in progress. I can pick them up add a page or two any time I feel like it.

I share some of the pages I have finished so far. ( I say "finished" ) ... but you never know.. sometimes I end up adding more to them also :)

I always like to add lots of little pockets and tags for names, dates, journaling ect...

You can click on the photos to see them larger

this is one of my favorite photos. Love it.

I think this photo of my mom is so pretty.

I don't even want to tell you what kind of mess I had in my room while I was digging threw all this stuff. Oh boy!

It's been a fun process, just working on this while I'm watching (listening too) tv, and in between getting a few things done around there this weekend. No dead line... just enjoying the process.

Back to my "Everyday" photos.    I'm going to start looking for a good art journal that will work well for adding my Everyday photos too now that I'm getting a good little collection in my file :)  Cant wait to start the process.   Have you given any thought to starting one??

This week
The story behind Everyday photo #1 is something as common as making dinner.  But it's been extra fun lately because Weston has been around to join us for meals more often.  It gives me a shot in the arm when it comes to cooking ..having him around because he is always so thankful for home cooked food. lol  He's always says... "That was so good!", " Thanks Mom".   ( as he painfully groans from being full).  I love it :)   Last night... stir fry

Everyday photo #2.... well that's just me and my little car being thankful that Sunday was warm enough for me to finally get my poor filthy dirty little car washed without worrying about the doors freezing shut.  I love living out of town..but dirty gravel roads are not nice to black cars.  YAY clean car.. at least for one day.  It's sounding like we are in for another snow storm this week so, it wont last long.  Still... nice for now.
Everyday Photo #3   Well this one is pretty self explanatory. Little stinker.
I will be leaving for Canada in day or two days, so I have my suitcase out on the bed and I'm slowing adding things to it.  I had a cute plush little moose dog toy in there for Ottis (Sandy's dog)... and guess who  found with it??  Snagged in right out of my suitcase.  She doesn't look very sorry does she? lol

So ... as I mentioned above I'm supposed to be heading out Thursday morning for Canada but winter storm Q , is freaking me out a bit, so we are trying to get me a flight out before it gets started.
This will probably be my last post before I go, but I'll be posting while I'm gone.. and plan to share some photos.   I'll be working in the Crafty Secrets office for the next week. Looking forward to seeing my Canadian friends :)

Keep your fingers crossed that Dan and Wes can keep these dogs in line while I'm gone. ( or vise versa) lol

Okay.... I'll be checking in soon.
Thanks for stopping by!

February "Whatevers"

Here we are ... time for February "Whatevers"  If your not familiar with Whatevers, read on....

Once again I chose to do my page in the altered book I started some time ago.
Funny how the simplest things can inspire you at times.  The base to my layout started with that paint swatch on the top half of the page.  The aqua color is just under the claim check piece then the black.. gray, then wheat color.  I love the combo.  I picked it up on day on a whim and heres where it landed.

Emil had been crafting barrels at the Smeals company still for over 40 years. He was a master at what he did, and took pride in his work.  This order... "Barrel #39" was a challenge, even for him.  He had been working on this barrel for months.  It was by far the largest whiskey barrel he had ever crafted. He always laughed when he showed us this picture, saying it was taken long after the barrel was finished and was ready for shipment.  The barrel took many lifts and pulleys just to get it to the dock where this photo was taken .. once it had been filled with whiskey and aged.    Before barrel #39 was shipped off, Emil was posed with it , there on the dock for this photo.

Here is the book I'm working in.

Here is this months photo..   We'd love to have you play along with us.  It's easy and fun.  read below

Here is how it works if you want to play along:
  • Nat, Cat and I have made a one-year commitment to each other and picked twelve photos with Whatevers whom we will give a story.
  • Every month – if possible always on the 15th – each of us will do a post with an individual story that goes along for us with the same photo.
  • If you want you can play along and we will have the photo for you – just right click on it to safe it to download and show us your version of The Whatevers.
  • There is no rules to the story itself- it can be funny, sad, uplifting, breathtaking- WHATEVER
  • There is no rules on the length or the form of the story- it can be a short sentence, an essay, a poem or a soap opera – WHATEVER
  • There is no rules on the art form you choose – it can be a scrapbook layout, an altered art project, an art journal page – WHATEVER
  • Here is a rule though: if you take the photo you have to link back to us andshow us your story.
  • These pictures are from our personal stash and are for personal use for you only! If you want to use them for a publication whether a book or magazine in print or digital form please ask for permission!
  • If you want to participate we’ll have a linky list for each Whatever Post.

Happy Valentines Day... and now.. wishing for Spring

Wishing everyone a  Happy Sweethearts Day!

Sharing a little puppy love with you today from our house too:)

I am SO ready for Spring this year!  Maybe it's because we have a wedding to look forward to June 1st:)     But Crafty Secrets has been coming up with so many new Spring, and Easter printables, I just couldn't resist getting started.  You can see all the printable eggs HERE, but I made these little candy holders using the Adorable Vintage Easter Eggs.
I thought I'd give you a quick run down of how I put them together if you are interested in making some as Easter gets closer.

When it comes to the printables...of course you can print them out any size you want. I just chose to print them small enough to fit on the fronts of my carrots.

The papers I used for the Carrot ( the orange and the green patterns) are from the "Creating with Vintage Patterns CD"  note: I printed them on cardstock.   The green pattern I printed on both sizes

I wanted to show you how I rolled my orange piece into a cone, but as you might notice I'm using a solid orange piece of paper :(  Why you ask?  Simply because I'm out of ink and waiting for it to arrive, so I can print another piece of paper until then.  lol    Anyway, you get the idea.    You can make these any size you like of course, but I cut mine  7x5, and rolled them with the 7" vertical.   Attach it into place and then trim it even across the top.

Again, couldn't cut the die cut piece, but you can see in the photo below that I just cut a die cut shape the width of the cone, when the cone was pushed flat at the top.  Attach the die cut to the back of the cone.  Fold over the die cut and use a piece of velcro as a closer.  Add Button

To make the green topper for the carrots. I cut 3x4 inch    pieces of the double sided green gingham printed paper( one for each carrot), and made cuts about 1/4 inch or less apart down the 4 inch length, leaving about 1/2 inch uncut at the bottom to hold it together.

Run your adhesive along the uncut bottom piece and gather it together like the photo below.

Now you can hot glue it to the back of the carrot on the die cut piece.   I used the little eggs that say To: and From: to cover of the messy base of this.

Now that we are on our way, all we have to do is wish for warmer weather :)  Bring it!!

Have a Great Day Everyone!
Thanks for stopping by!

Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L 3D Foam hearts

Love Notes

Everyday photos?  Well, I think I've slacked a bit on taking everyday photos over the weekend , because I was busy "enjoying" everyday "life". lol    We didn't really have any plans for the weekend.  But it was one of those times when things just fell into place and we ending up having some people over.  We all just put out some snacks, watched a bunch of  the old music videos Dans been recording and hung out.  Kinda, name that tune sorta thing.  Totally fun and relaxing afternoon and evening.
Sometimes  last minute unplanned get togethers are the best huh?  The older I get the more I like "easy"lol

Oh... before I close, I wanted to tell you there is a template for a cute water bottle hanger HERE on the Miss Fancy Pants Blog.

Off and running.  Lots to get done today. The sun is actually shining, so that should help motivate me. We've had so many cloudy, gloomy days in a row.  I'm ready for some sunshine!
Hope you enjoy your day!

Thanks for stopping by!
