Halloween Crafting night with the girls

Well, I told you I'd break up my Halloween projects so you didn't get bombarded with them all at once, but...... it's time again:)    The other night Julie and Jan came over for a little crafting fun and we made some Halloween themed projects using my new AccuCut Witches Shoe die.
This die can be used in a number of different ways. Below you can see how I hinged two shoes together to create a free standing Halloween d├ęcor piece.

In a previous post I showed you this album I created.  You can see the entire album HERE if you missed it.

Here is the die with all the fun elements that come with it.

Here are a couple of close ups of my hinged project.

I love that little mouse (wink)

So the night the girls and I crafted I decided I created a banner this time.  I used this die AND and few Pennant Flag pieces.

Here are a few close ups so you can see it a bit better.

Lets just say... Fun was had! lol    Lots of chatter and serious laughs!

One things we learned .. a few hours in the evening is not enough :(    We all hated to see the night come to an end.   But a few hour is still a few hours.. so we'll take it!

Julie with her projects. They turned out so cute!

Jan is making a hanging banner also, but didn't have time to get all finished.  I told her I still had to take a photo of what she had done so far.  It was turning out adorable!

We also used Double sided Adhesive sheets from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L and the Spider on the die to dress up this glass candle holders I picked up at Dollar General for $3.  They really are pretty cool. You can see how big they are, as those are full sized candles in them.

Like I said.. it was SO fun having the girls here.  I haven't laughed that much for quite a while. Good think we live in the country because it might have gotten a little loud by the look on Daisy's face. lol

I Can not wait until we can do it again!!

Thanks for stopping by!
I hope your long weekend is awesome my friends!

Congratulations Card

Hi Everyone!  Well, I had planned to post another Halloween sample today, but then decided I'd break up  the Halloween project post with other projects. ( That way you wont feel like your in mid October) lol      I've really been into making cards more lately .. even more than I have in the past. Why?  I just love being about to send something handmade to someone. Who doesn't feel special when they get a handmade card in the mail?  Now all I have to do it get better about remember everyone's birthdays, anniversaries ect.  :(       Oh my mom was always to good at that.  I must try to do better with that.       The cards below is one I made for my brother-in-law.  Today is has been with the same company for 40 years!

So this is the inside of the card.     The papers are from the Fancy Pants Designs, Collecting Moments line.   The bow is one of my Accucut die designs  Bows VC106LC

Huge Congrats Keith!!

Jumping back into my "Everyday Photos" routine

Everyday Photo #1

One of my favorite places to sit and relax with an ice tea, .... our front porch.

Everyday Photo #2

When I'm using dishes and contains of my mom and always get a warm fuzzy when I turn them over and see that she had them marked with her name or initials.   I think of all the places she has taken dishes and baked goods.  Family reunions, church pot lucks, to friends and neighbors ect..     It just makes me smile.   And let me tell you... that tan striped Pyrex bowl held a lot of mommas delicious gravy :)

Everyday Photo #3

This photo was just taken last night.   I'll be sharing more photos from last nights little crafting session with Julie and Jan when I share my next Halloween post.  We had a blast.  Man I love spending time with these girls.

Okay, I have one more thing to share today. The other day I got an email from Jarad ( our youngest son) ,and attached was this video.   "It said, mom watch this... you'll like it".     Was he ever right.
I think you will also.

Wishing you all a great day!

Excited to share my new "Witches Shoe" die release from AccuCut

I love it when I have something new and exciting to share with you, especially when I've had to keep it a secret for a while:)    Today is the day I get to share the release of my newest die with AccuCut.   It's going to be so fun for Halloween!  Below I'm sharing photos of an album I created with the die, but it can easily be used for many other projects. Especially because of all the fun little add on pieces. It would be fun for  scrapbook pages, altered projects, freestanding, banners, ect..

Below you can see the pieces that are a part of this die set.
Witch's Shoe 9 1/8"w x 7"h (Assembled), Mouse 3 1/4"w x 1 1/4"h, Star 2"w x 2"h,

For the love of Grey and Yellow

Well, I'm pretty much in love with this color combo these days.   When you get down further in my post, you'll see, to just what extent :)    I figured I'd start out small with a card to share first.

I thought I'd share one of the projects that's been occupying my time these days. I've been working on a little living room redo project.  With the help and encouragement of my sis.. it's finally coming together.  I've envisioned in my mind for sometime what I wanted to do, but actually "doing it" proved not to be as easy. You see, it's odd, but as daring as I can be with color in my art.... in my house, I'm not as fearless. Making big changes .. even when I want them, still scares me for some reason. Weird I know.  I was really afraid this sectional would make the room seem even smaller than it is.  I was pleasantly surprised when it had the opposite effect. It really seems to open things up.   Then came that big blank "scary" wall. eeeeekkk   I really wanted to do the mirrors and frames, but .. which frames? what colors? how many mirrors verses frames? how should they be hung? ahhhhhh!!!   After laying them all out and moving them around for an hour,.......... I just put them all away and waited until my sis could come help ( I know... I'm such a baby).      It was so much better when she was here and we worked together.  We spray painted, added hangers and then made arrangements on the floor until we had just right.   ( in the photo below there is still one small white round ornate frame to be added to the upper right).
All of the frame were found on one junk find or another.   Thank you sister!!

One of the things my sister and I found the week before at an antique store was that old flat drawer that's on the ottoman. I loved the idea of using that as a tray. ( above)
I've had this sofa table for ever.... but it feels good to finally use it the way I had always hoped to. (below)

I'm giving thought to adding the wire back to this frame and handing the gorgeous black and white flower picture below to the wire with metal clips.

I just got these pictures in the mail from my niece (by marriage)... they belonged to her Aunt at one time. She sent them to me along with a pair of her Aunts gloves and some darling vintage hankies, thinking I would appreciate them.  Oh.. how right she was. I love them!

Also, you might remember that some time ago I was telling you about how I like to upload photos I've taken to Walgreens and have them printed in large sizes to frame for the different seasons.
I chose this  photo that I took a few years ago when we were in Washington to put in the frame to hang on the inside hallway wall for a while.

I found some really great deals while I was looking for a couple new accent pieces.  Like this glass piece from Tuesday Mornings. It was around $12. Oh.. and those cute yellow pillows... 40% off at Shopko!... yes.. Shopko

This little table was a thrift store fine when I was in Lincoln last week.

I have had the little table below  for almost 30 years. Dan's grandma gave it to me not long after we were married.

I just realized you cant really see the curtains that are on the big window that faces the front of the house, in these photos.... but they look like this.  Java colored.

I'm sure I'll make little changes as some time goes by and I get more of a feel for it, but for now, I'm not in any rush to change lamps, ...but I be on the look out while junking and thrifting for something fun and funky... no more matchy matchy. lol

We moved the other couch , chair and tv upstairs to what we call the den, and moved the old one out of there.  Lots of moving and lifting of this big stuff really makes us wish we still had the boys living here to help.   We could have waited until the weekend but I'm to impatient for that. lol

Okay, now that I have some of this behind me I might have a little more time for paper crafting :)   Next week I have some fun things to announce.   New fun things coming up and also I giveaway, so stop by okay?

Thanks for coming by today!

I hope your day is fantastic!

Best Wishes Card

And again, another weeks speeds by. Seems impossible that school has started. It's been cooler the past few days and I have to say I am loving having the windows open and enjoying the fresh air. I always hate having the house closed up with the air conditioning on for so long, but when it's as hot as it was, there really wasn't much choice.
Sharing a card I made yesterday using Crafty Secrets Creating with Vintage Patterns CD for the papers and Garden Creative Scraps.    Oh... how I love these colors!
Sandy has a great post up with gorgeous samples here on the Heartwarming Vintage blog if you'd like to check it out :)

Well, this week's "Everyday Photos" pretty much sum up my week. lol  Esp the first one.
Everyday Photo #1
Yep.. you guessed it, ... we painted.  Always a pain and a mess, but love it when it's done!

Everyday Photo #2
Spent a day junk'n with my sis! Oh it was the best.  I was actually on a mission to find some old frames for a display I was working on for one of my living room walls, and I found some!  Also found a fun little end table.  I'll share when I have it all put together.

Everyday Photo #3
Most favorite part of the entire week.  Wes stayed here last night.  He is down to only 3 weeks left of Police academe.  He had ordered a new dobro guitar and had UPS deliver it here this week.  So he stay here last night. We went to dinner and then just hung out around here.  Oh.. for me.. that is a perfect night. To have one of my boys here for the evening.

I'm meeting my friend Julie for lunch today, so I'm looking forward to that!  Better get things rolling.

I hope your weekend is fantastic!

Thanks for stopping by!

"Whatevers TWO "August"

August Whatevers time!
We hope you'll be inspired to play along with us!  If your not familiar with how "Whatevers" works, you can read about all the details further down in this post.  But basically what it is, is that we pick one photo each month (that we also provide to you, if you'd like to play along), of people who are in need of a story. I long lost photo. One of those you might find at a flea market, or vintage shop. The kind that always makes you wonder.. where do these people belong? You know they belonged to someone. We'll we give them a new story and now journey ... a new adventure!   We each create a page and story just for them.   As you can image, it's a creative journey that takes many different paths :)

Here is my page for August I started my page with pieces bits and pieces of papers from the Fancy Pants "Swagger" Collection, and then had a little fun with paint and markers from there.

My story:

To the women of Harrisburg SD, there was just something about this traveling man that had them all batting their eyes when he came around. He had just a way about him. Always tipping his hat, and flashing that contagious smile of his.  Taking time to dress quite snappy and always smelling like lilac hair tonic.   His name was Henry and he had come to town as part of a group of surveyors for the department  of roads. Harrisburg was a small town. The available  women of Harrisburg were all very much aware of Henry, and doing their best to pine for his attention. Henry loved the company of pretty women and was often seen with one on each arm.  He enjoyed the attention from the ladies and always treated them to a wonderful time. But little did they know that this fish was not going to be so easy to catch.  He enjoyed single life very much, and planned to keep it that way!

Here is the August photo

Check out what the others are up to this month

Just a little bit of fun

Well, of the entire Summer, this week has probably been the busiest.  Just lots going on. I dread the thought of Summer Coming to an end :(   I know their are plenty of moms out there who are probably ready for the kids to head back to school and get back into a routine though huh?  I am excited for my daughter in law Kate, as she starts her first year as a teacher! YAY for you Kate!  I know she will love it. She was cut out for teaching.
I'm finishing up sharing the last of my Fancy Pants Designs projects from CHA. This last one is done with the "Collecting Moments" Collection
I just altered some little bottles I found at Michael's .  But my favorite part is the cork tops where I added the  beautiful New Resin Flowers that match this line. LOVE them!

What else artsy/craftsy have I been doing?  Well, have you heard about this?
Art Journaling Coloring Book by Catherine Scanlon
As you can see, I'm not finished with my page yet. Still working on it, but what fun, and relaxing. And I cant believe how fast it goes. I was just working on this while I was watching TV.  I spent $15 on a big new pack of all different colors of sharpies the other day and I'm telling you what.. they work great for this.  But of course.. any markers, watercolors, colored pencils, even crayons would work perfectly. There are many different had drawn sheets in each pack, and if you know Catherine's work.. you know they are amazing.  You can check it all out at the link above on Cat's blog and see all kinds of samples too :)

Instead of sharing my "Everyday Photos" this week  ( it would make your head spin!)  I'm just going to share this photo of the way the week started... with something relaxing!!  My sis Jan and I spent the day  with our friend Julie at her house on the lake. We sat in the Sun and chatted, went for a boat ride and then out for an amazing dinner.   One of the best days of the entire Summer!!

I have been waiting all week to have a few minutes to sit down and look at the CD of the photos my brother-in-law took at the wedding.  He is an amazing photographer and got some fantastic candid shots .. which is what I adore.  I haven't gotten all the way thru them but I thought I'd share just a few.

With the rain that day... it was so lucky that Kate had gotten the girls all these monogrammed wellies  because they ended up wearing them the entire time.. and they looked darling.  ( she also gave them monogrammed umbrellas)

    Thanks for letting me share!
Here's to this week slowing down just a little bit :)

    Thanks for stopping by!
