"Daffodil Spray" Card

Wrapping up the weekend with a blog post.  I know, strange for me as I usually don't blog on Sundays, but since Dan started this new shift, we are all "adjusting".  He's napping, so I'm blogging.   I've been so excited to share with you some things I've been creating with my dear friend Catherine Scanlons Stamps and Stencils.  That girl is just crazy talented!!  I'm in love with her drawings... oh, and I love her to pieces also :)
You can follow her here on her blog Catherine Scanlon Designs

This card was made with her "Daffodil Spray" Stamp
Here are places you can by her stamps and stencils

I'll be sharing more of Cats beautiful products .. so stay tuned.

If you've been visiting here much at all, you probably know I'm not much of stamp "colorer". lol   I really enjoyed using painting these using watercolor crayons.  I just  picked up color from them with a wet brush.   Inexpensive, and I picked them up at Hobby Lobby.

I spent Friday with my sis, working on wedding projects.  Oh, I can wait to be able to share some of them with you... it's going to be such a FUN and beautiful wedding!
We also found some gorgeous succulents at Home Depot when we ran for supplies :)  I think we are both ready for Spring!  It was just so fun to see plants to start with..but the succulents were just to healthy and there were so many!!  Yes.. we came home with a few.  Easy to get distracted. lol
We also stopped at a sale. That we had actually planned to fit into the day :)   We did find a lot.  I found a few new vintage buttons to add to the ones I have .  Buttons make me happy. Especially vintage ones~!

And my sis found this little treasure.

Isn't it adorable?

Even if we don't find lots of treasures... we always have a good time. And wrapped up Saturday with Mexican food and a Margarita :-)

Today..... lazy day!   Even for the dogs.

I hope you had a great weekend ... with a little "down time" also.

Thanks for stopping by

Sweet Springtime Card and and "Spring" banner

I have a plan... I keep thinking if I just keep making "Spring" projects... Spring will HAVE to come! Right? lol    We'll it's still quite cold here, so it hasn't worked so far.. but I will continue to be persistent with it. lol
I have a couple of project that I thought I'd share today. Both are made with the Printable Easter/Spring Download from Crafty Secrets.
Printable Banner includes letters to spell HAPPY EASTER and SPRING JOY, plus 2 blank banners and the font to create any alphabet letters. Each banner at 300 dpi is almost 5``W x 8``H.
I used one of the blank banner pieces and a stamped sentiment from "Spring Chicks" Digital Stamp to create the card above. And below you can see I just created a banner with the word "SPRING".    I always make a new banner to hang in my friend Sally's room at the care facility for each Season or Holiday... this looks so pretty hanging on her wall.     Decorating and Embellishing is the fun part right? Although I kept mine fairly simple.. check out this one from   Kathy Clement    I love it so much!
You can click on the photo below to be able to see each piece closer.
Here is what you get in the down load along with the font to create your own words.

It's been pretty low key around here, as we are trying to get used to Dans new work hours. ugh!   Wes did stop by this morning for a visit, so I made the guys a big breakfast.
I've been working on getting out some of my Spring décor out... little by little.
( sometimes I just have to laugh... if you guys really knew what was going on when I take photos at times...     Dan is sound asleep on the couch just behind this little vignette.. haha)  I just couldn't resist telling you

I've been working on and off on the closets, and trying to go threw things.  I have two bins in our closet, one with Dan's keepsake stuff and one with mine. I decided to look in them, since I haven't looked for years. I found this box in Dan's.  I had clippings in it, not the actually game pieces but I LOVE the sweet little box.  Yep.. you guess it... enough to hang it on the wall in my studio :)

I have bedding washing , dinner in the crock pot and it's quite around here, so I'm going to try to get something creative done.   I hope you are all having a great start to your week.

Burlap and Map print garland/ Typography in Decor

Your in for a treat with todays post, because my dear friend Deb is letting me share some photos of her beautiful home. She has an amazing eye for design and décor. Her home is a treasure trove of fun and interesting things, all put together to simply make you want to stay and take it all in. ( which I do quite often) lol

***But first I need to announce the winner of the March/April issue of Sommerset Studio Magazine.  Kathy Clement is the winner!  Huge thanks to Stampington for allowing me to host this giveaway!

I always start by sharing a project, and this one is in keeping with todays post. This banner made with this printable map paper was created using Crafty Secrets Heartwarming Vintage Creating with Vintage Typography CD

                                      Creating with Vintage Typography

You'll see as you get further down in this post the reason I asked Deb if I could share some photos of her décor in this post.  She uses Maps, numbers, letters ... just all kinds of Typography in her decorating in such a cool way.

* this map print is just one of the cool printables on the CD. I used some burlap, and stitching.
I'm so thankful Deb was willing to let me share photos of her home.  enjoy!
Here are a few of the Globes from Debs collection.   ( see the lighted one on the far right side? That is one that I found for her and had shipped back from Seattle when we went to Funky Junk sisters.  It looks so awesome!

You don't have to look far to see all kinds of letters and numbers used in her décor.
Yep, you guessed it, her last name begins with "S".

So many cool areas and vignettes.
How fun would it be to make some of these??  I've see all kinds of sizes and shapes of Letters at Hobby Lobby lately.  Easy enough to print off text, sheet music or map paper from the CD and decoupage them on.

Her mantel.. which is an ever changing work of art.
Love these

Check out this lamp!
How about hanging?

Clocks, clock faces, .. and do you see the framed sheet music? and Chalkboard quote?
Deb embraces her Irish roots... so when I came across that "When Irish Eyes are Smiling" sheet music, I had to get it for her.

Chalkboard are so awesome.  Great way to be able to change out quotes. I have many. But I love how Deb added this wreath.

So many cool things to look at.
I seriously  was trying to stay focused on things involving typography...but she has so many pretty's.... it was hard .. trust me. lol
Books and more vintage globes.
I cant  thank Deb enough for letting me share her home for my post.
It makes you just want to come over for coffee doesn't it?
Be sure to pop over to the Heartwarming Vintage blog and see the things Sandy is clearing out and has marked way down.  Cardstock bundles, chipboard pieces, chipboard and plastic albums ect...  Great prices!  HERE

Spring Wreath

Have you seen all the cute new Spring and Easter Printables from Crafty Secrets?  So many great ones!   You can see them all here.     Today I thought I'd show you how you can do something as simple as  printing  off this adorable  Spring Cut Out Kids to add to your Spring Décor.   I just printed this little sweetie off on Cardstock, quite large, cut her out and added her to my wreath.
The paper bow is my AccuCut Die  Bows VC106  cut from one of the beautiful Crafty Secrets papers.

Again.... the part about being about to print..... you choose the size... and how many.

Here is another one I printed, and cut out, so you could see.   But you can see them all here.

If that doesn't bring Spring, I don't know what will. lol

My sis and I have been getting together working on wedding stuff for my nieces wedding in May.   Last week when we got together at my sisters house, she had a new recipe she wanted to try out.  I took one look at it, and saw the work "coconut" and I said... "I'm in!" ha!  I love coconut!    We made these for breakfast, and I'm telling you, they were delish!!    I snapped this photo just to make your mouth water. lol       Sharing the recipe below, with the original website ( which has a printable version, and well as about a zillion over great recipes), just incase your interested ( wink wink)

Coconut Crusted French Toast

Recipe from Two Peas & Their Pod

Yield: Serves 2-3
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutes
Thick slices of French toast with a sweet coconut crust. Coconut lovers will go crazy for this Coconut Crusted French Toast!

3 large eggs
3/4 cup lite coconut milk
1/2 teaspoon coconut extract
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup shredded sweetened coconut
6 slices of French bread, cut into 1/2 inch slices
Butter, maple syrup, and strawberries-for serving, if desired

1. In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, coconut milk, coconut extract, vanilla extract, and salt. Place the shredded coconut on a plate. Dip both sides of each slice of bread into the egg mixture. Dip both sides of the coated bread into the shredded coconut. Drizzle a little egg mixture on top of the coconut to make it stick to the bread.
2. Meanwhile, heat a large non-stick frying pan or a griddle to medium to medium-high heat. Cook the slices of bread until golden brown on one side and then turn and cook the other side. Serve immediately or keep French toast warm in a 250 degree F oven.
3. Serve with butter, pure maple syrup, and/or strawberries.

So what was my week like?   Still working on my "Everyday Photos".  So here's a bit of what's been going on for me.

Everyday Photo #1

Very happy to announce the new Fancy Pants Designs DT............. and that I'm a part of it. YAY!   I've been with Fancy Pants Designs about 10 years now.  Always amazed with the amazing designs and new product they come out with. Amazing Company to get to be a part of!  Honored!

Everyday Photo #2

Yesterday!  St Patty's Day!  Corned Beef and Cabbage of course!  It's a tradition. Was happy Wes was here to join us for dinner.   He was stopping at Jarad and Kates after he left here, so I sent some for them also.   Always think of mom , as this was something she loved and we always had together.

Everyday Photo #3
Please keep my friend Sally in your prayers if you would.  You may have heard me mention her in previous posts.  She has been a dear friend to me for over 30 years. Before I tell you about her Alzheimer's/Dementia, I want to tell you about her, because Alzheimer's/Dementia does not define WHO she is.
She has been a crazy fun vivacious friend, who smiles incessantly. Wife, mother of three boys, who she raised to be amazing men. Hard working, strong woman, who always knew how to have fun. Crossed stitched, scrapbooked everything of her children's, mom of the house on the block where all the neighborhood kids all ways congregated. I could go on and on.
She is in her 50's and has Early on set Alzheimer's/Dementia.  The disease has progressed dramatically over the last few years.  She just spent 4 days in the hospital. I understand more an more why they call this disease "The Long Goodbye".   Heartbreaking.     Things I've given a lot of thought to the last few days...  It's hard to know what someone or their family or friends are going thru unless you or someone close to you has been thru it yourself. My Grandma had Alzheimer's in her later years, and it was very sad. Watching someone young go thu it , how much faster is progresses, how it effects their spouse...  I cant even image :( ..... and their children who are just marrying and starting families of their own... well ...really sad. She's missed getting to know her first grandchild, and will miss another sons upcoming wedding.  It breaks me heart.   There are so many battles so many people are fighting in this world right now,  Alzheimer's/Dementia just seems to be the devil at the forefront of things in mine at the moment, because it's effecting my friend and the people who love her so profoundly.  It just reminds us to have compassion. Every one has their own battles they are fighting. Either themselves or someone they care about.  We might know it's hard, but we've not "been there, in their shoes" so we don't totally know.  I try to always be compassionate but ....  It's things like this that remind me
Compassion is so important.
Compassion is the feeling of empathy for others. Compassion is the emotion that we feel in response to the suffering of others that motivates a desire to help.
To leave you on a lighter note... the sun is shining here, and I'm about to go take the pups for a little walk. I hope you have something good planned for your day

Something a little different for me.  Sheet music, magazine page pieces, mod podge, paint, markets, threadless stitching, stamping....      and do you know what that is holding the photo?

It's a Music Staff Chalkboard Liner.
( or in this case... a perfect photo holder :)

My story:
Sam, Bill, Ken, and Buck loved singing together, and had been doing it for years, but this night was extra special.  A real celebration.  They're singing on a live radio broadcast  on KQRX from the Simmons Theater in St Louis. This was a hug deal for four guys from Chelsea Missouri.  Family and friends back home were gathered around their radios waiting to hear them sing with their perfectly harmonized voices.  They had been practicing for weeks. Tonight was their night to make their little town proud.

Here is a bit about how it works if you'd like to join in
Here is how it works
  • Nat, Cat, Cuchy (Carmen), Martha and I and I have made a one-year commitment to each other and picked twelve photos with Whatevers whom we will give a story.
  • Every month – if possible always on the 15th –  each of us will do a post with an individual story that goes along for us with the same photo.
  • If you want you can play along and we will have the photo for you to download and show us your version of The Whatevers. The photo will be posted at the end of our blogposts- not on Facebook!
  • There is no rules to the story itself- it can be funny, sad, uplifting, breathtaking- WHATEVER
  • There is no rules on the length or the form of the story- it can be a short sentence, an essay, a poem or a soap opera – WHATEVER
  • There is no rules on the artform you choose – it can be a scrapbook layout, an altered art project, an artjournal page – WHATEVER
  • Here is a rule though: if you take the photo you have to link back to us and show us your story.
  • These pictures are from our personal stash and are for personal use for you only! If you want to use them for a publication whether a book or magazine in print or digital form please ask for permission!

Spring Card using Crafty Secrets Hearwarming Vintages

Hello!  Thanks to those of you who popped over to the Miss Fancy Pants Blog for yesterdays blog post.   Today I thought I'd share one of the cards I made recently with one of the pieces from the new Printable Easter-Spring Banner Crafty Secrets just released.  You can see what it looks like below.  It comes with some words already to print, but also with a couple of pieces that you can add your own letters to if you want... to create your own words.   OR use to create a card by adding a sentiment like I did here.

I used a Digital stamp from the Bunny Hop Set for the sentiment on the card.
The papers I used are also from Crafty Secrets.  You can see all their digital papers here as well as many more on their CD's here.
I cut this piece out, raised it up with some foam squares from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L and added some Stickles to the flowers.

Okay.... so about my week.   I spent a little time yesterday with this young fella.  Is he the sweetest or what?   This is Cully.  He is my friend Debs little guy.  He and I are the best of buddies.  I was over at Debs chatting and snapping a few photos of her charming home.   She is being sweet enough to let me share some photos of her some in an upcoming blog post I have planned.  Stay tuned, you are in for a treat.  She has such a way with decorating!

Monday is was in the 70's here!  March in Nebraska?  WOW!  Lets just say.... HAPPY!  I was so happy, I treated myself to a little St Patty's Pedi.  And then set out on the deck for a bit while the dogs played.  It was gorgeous out!

Tuesday.... yes, that would be 24 hours later.......... SNOW!   Now that is just what mean about Nebraska weather.  geesh.   boo!

If you want to see some gorgeous "fun in the sun" photos that will make you smile, pop over and see the photos Sandy (owner of Crafty Secrets) has posted HERE on the Heartwarming Vintage Blog of their trip to Cabo, they just returned from. BEAUTIFUL!

I hope you are having a fantastic week!
Huge thanks for stopping by!!
